A huge thank you to Kay and Annie who organised our first summer BBQ of the year and our wonderful staff who hosted residents and families in the beautiful sunshine in our new sensory garden.

Special thanks to our Head Chef, Mary Molyneux and Louise O’Connor, our newest addition to the team, Brenda and Michelle and
Our celebrity chef Joe who ensured everyone enjoyed gorgeous culinary delights. Of course, a run to the bar was required for some residents who developed a taste for few hot whiskeys, Baileys, and even a pint of Guinness, all enjoyed under the shade of our beautiful tree in the sensory garden.

The Residents, Families, Staff and Board of Aras Mhuire Nursing Home would like to sincerely thank Marina, who climbed to Everest Base Camp and raised an incredible €8,250 for Aras Mhuire Nursing Home and €8,250 for the Kerry Hospice Foundation.

This weekend, one group from Aras Mhuire attended the Irish Healthcare Awards at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin, while another group enjoyed a wonderful evening at Tankers Bar, generously hosted by Marina, where the directors of Aras Mhuire Nursing Home were honoured to accept a cheque on behalf of the Board.

Those of us who travelled to Dublin were very sorry to miss the event, but we have heard that a fantastic night was had by all who attended. The generosity, warmth and community spirit that filled the evening were a fitting reflection of the remarkable person who made it all possible.

Marina, thank you for your extraordinary kindness, generosity, selflessness and courage. To take on the challenge of reaching Everest Base Camp in support of others is a truly remarkable achievement. Your wild and free spirit, your sense of adventure, and your unwavering commitment to helping others are an inspiration to us all.

Your fundraising efforts will make a real difference to the lives of our residents and will support the invaluable work of the Kerry Hospice Foundation. More importantly, your kindness and generosity have touched the hearts of everyone in our Aras Mhuire family.

From all of us at Aras Mhuire Nursing Home, thank you for everything you have done. We are deeply grateful for your friendship, your generosity and the example you set for all of us

Aras Mhuire Nursing Home has been nominated as a finalist in the Irish Healthcare Awards.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank every person who has helped to make the home such a warm and homely place to live and work. This includes the exceptional people who currently work in the home as well as every past staff member, our volunteers, visitors, residents, and families who have been so very patient and supportive of us over the years.

This nomination reflects our longstanding commitment to a rights-based, person-centred culture built around one simple belief — it is never, ever okay for one adult to say no to another. Instead, we challenge everybody who walks through our doors to find a better way to support residents to live their lives as they wish.

Our staff continuously go to extraordinary lengths to support residents to live life on their own terms, whether that means heading off for a pint, attending a concert, drenching staff during a water fight in the day room, or having snowball fights in the dining room. Maintaining fun, laughter, dignity and individuality within the home — even during challenging times — is central to who we are.

A huge thank you to our local suppliers who have sponsored 10 members of the Aras Mhuire family to travel to Dublin this Friday night for the black-tie awards ceremony. John Griffin at first stop food sales, Conor Keane, Electrician, Karol O Connor, MHS, Homecare medical, Seamus Lynch, Lynches oil.

We fully intend to bring the fun, laughter and spirit of our home onto the dancefloor. The Kerry flags are packed already!

Hi Everyone,

We are delighted to share that our much-loved resident James Gould will be celebrating his 90th birthday next week 🎉

James has been part of the Aras Mhuire family for 22 years, and for the past 15 years has been the Chairperson of our Residents’ Committee. In this role, James has welcomed new residents, helping them to settle in, delivered newspapers each day, supported residents in accessing items they need, and has kindly assisted with Holy Communion every Sunday.

James also chairs our three-monthly resident meetings, ensuring that residents’ voices are heard, and regularly checks in with others, always showing care and kindness, particularly to anyone who may be feeling low. His cheerful smile truly brightens every day in our home.

We are marking this very special milestone with a three-day celebration:

• Sunday – James will celebrate his birthday with a family meal
• Monday – The Board of Management have arranged a special afternoon tea for James in Adare Manor, in recognition of his incredible contribution over the past 22 years
• Tuesday 21st April at 3pm – We will host a birthday celebration here in the nursing home, where James will be presented with a plaque by the Board of Management to honour his outstanding service

Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting James is very welcome to join us on Tuesday at 3pm for tea, cake, and celebrations 🎂

It would be lovely to have you with us to celebrate such a remarkable man.
Trish
