International Day of Infant Massage.

Today, the IAIM UK Chapter proudly celebrates the birthday of Vimala McClure, founder of the International Association of Infant Massage.

Vimala recognised the importance of nurturing touch, respectful communication and emotional connection long before these conversations became widely recognised.

Her work helped shape a global movement supporting families through:

• infant massage education
• bonding and attachment
• baby communication
• respectful caregiving
• emotional wellbeing

Her message continues to guide IAIM today:

“Touch is a baby’s first language.”

Thank you, Vimala, for your lifelong contribution to families around the world.

It’s Day 3 of ! 💛

We hope the week so far has offered moments of inspiration, reflection, and curiosity as we continue exploring the theme of .

Today’s theme invites us to think about how we can use — and trust — our observation skills looking at babies’ behaviour alongside other sources of information, including monitors, technology, and clinical tools.

We’ll be exploring this both within neonatal intensive care settings and more broadly in the context of parenting in an increasingly technology-filled world.

How do we ensure that, alongside all the information available to us, we continue to truly see the individual, unique baby in front of us?

Look out for today:

🎥 Our third “In Conversation” discussion featuring special guest Neonatal Consultant Dr Natalie Duffy, exploring observation, technology, and keeping the baby at the centre of care.

✨ Reflective prompts and practical takeaways to support thinking about how we can better see the baby within today’s theme.

Infant Massage Awareness Week begins with the heart of IAIM — supporting parents and babies through connection.

Infant massage is much more than a relaxation technique. Through loving, responsive touch, babies begin to learn important foundations for emotional wellbeing and secure attachment.

Massage also helps parents:
• understand baby cues
• build confidence
• slow down and connect
• create moments of calm together

The relationship built through these small moments can have a lasting impact far beyond infancy.

Day 2 of is here! 💛

After yesterday’s introduction to the theme of and reflecting on why this matters, throughout the rest of the week we’ll be exploring different barriers and challenges that can affect our ability to truly see babies.

These themes will resonate with both healthcare professionals and parents, offering opportunities for insight, reflection, and practical ideas.

Today, we’re thinking about how task-oriented caregiving can sometimes make it harder to truly see the baby in front of us — to be present in the moment and allow babies to guide us as active participants in their care and communication.

We’ll be reflecting on how slowing down, observing babies, and being open to their contribution can not only guide our care, but also create moments of deep connection and enjoyment.

Look out for today:

🎥 A conversation with Anulika Ifezue on “How We Can Reframe Care from Tasks to Connection” — sharing how this shift has been embedded across Manchester’s Health Visiting Service in truly inspiring ways.

✨ Reflective prompts and practical takeaways exploring how we can better see the baby within today’s theme.

Hi all,
The parent & toddler group will be back on next Monday and will run for three more weeks with the last session being on Monday 22nd June.

Most of us who help with the setup of the group will be finished this year as our little ones move on to Montessori in September.

For the group to continue there will need to be some volunteers to take over the running of the group. This will involve setup and cleanup each Monday as well as some admin/paperwork to secure the grant from Fingal Co Co each year.

If you are interested in volunteering please let us know, the more volunteers there are the easier it is on everyone.
Spread the word about the group & hopefully we can ensure its continuation for the community.

Thanks ☺️
