October is Mental Health Awareness Month

When we’re struggling with our mental health, it can feel so hard to find energy for anything.
Everything seems big, heavy, flat — even the simplest things can take too much effort
Over the years, both in my mental health work and now through energy medicine, I’ve seen how powerful it can be to reconnect with something you care about. something that ignites a spark within you
It doesn’t have to be big or life-changing — just something that stirs a desire , a longing for life

Sometimes it’s talking about a pet, a grandchild, being in nature, music, or a memory that brings a smile.
In that moment, something shifts — the energy lifts, just a little, and that tiny spark reminds us that life is still there, waiting to meet us.

When we give a little energy to that spark, it can offer hope and the motivation to take a tiny action — and those tiny actions slowly build on each other.
It is not about being productive or making things happen. it is about the feeling of aliveness .

let's talk about creating space. Not just in your home, but inside you.
Your body is a vessel for your energy. And sometimes, that vessel gets a little too full. You know that feeling when you've eaten too much and you have to open a button or loosen your belt? It's your body's way of asking for space.
It's the same when you're feeling tight, stiff, or emotionally heavy. That's a friendly signal from your energy saying, "I need room to breathe!"
The easiest way to give it that room? A simple stretch. Not a workout, just a conscious, slow movement. It's like a friendly invitation to your body to let go.
Try this: just reach one hand toward the sky and hold it for a moment, then return. Now do the same with the other hand. This gentle movement helps your spleen energy—which is vital for grounding and digestion—to flow.
What small, simple stretch can you do to create some space for yourself tonight?

You snap at your loved ones or shut down, ans don't talk or get emotionally aroused and you cannot identify a trigger .
After years working in a psychiatric hospital—and now as an energy medicine coach—I’ve seen this again and again:
So often, what looks like an emotional issue is actually just a lack of energy.
Like Oprah says:
💬 “Energy is the most important currency in life.”
When your inner tank is running on empty, even the tiniest setback can feel overwhelming.
If that’s where you are today, try one of these gentle resets:
Close your eyes for one full minute.
No phone, no scrolling—just stillness. It’s a small act, but it helps conserve energy and calm your mind.or
Do a slow, full-body stretch.
Let yourself move gently. Releasing tension this way helps your energy start flowing again

Stressed . What does I am
Stressed actually mean . I have noticed that saying I stressed can be a shield against the underlying emotion that is present in the situation . Last week I had a client who described how stressed he was about giving a presentation at work . When he eventually found the emotion hiding underneath his stress he discovered his fear of failure . Understanding and naming this emotion offered him a roadmap to manage the challenge .

Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but gets you nowhere." I love that quote because it perfectly describes how I used to feel. For the longest time, that knot of worry in my stomach felt like a permanent part of my life.

But I've learned that it's a message from my body. In traditional Chinese medicine the emotion of worry is described as a physical conversation with our stomach and spleen, Worry is inviting us to address the root cause of our imbalance. Or discontent . Have you ever said yes to something
and then heard your stomach saying no loudly and clearly .We can keep ignore the sensations for a short period of time but eventually our body will get our attention through illness or pain.

I've been on a journey of listening, and I've been using powerful energy tools to find my balance again. Now, I'm putting everything I've learned into a course called "Mood Mastery with Meridians."

I used to think of emotions as good or bad. I’d try to avoid the "bad" ones, the ones i knew my parents or teachers did not like but that made me feel disconnected from myself, like I was living a short distance from my body.
James Joyce in his book the Dubliners describes Mr Duffy as living a short distance from his body

Then a client I worked with in mental health said something that changed everything for me: "When you put the lid on one emotion, it puts a lid on all of them
That powerful insight helped me realize that emotions aren't obstacles; they're guides. For example, today I feel grumpy, and as soon as I noticed it, I realized it's a sign that I'm just tired and need an early night.
When we let our emotions speak, they point to what we really need.

Sometimes our mood can feel like a sudden storm, appearing out of nowhere. We go from being happy to feeling lethargic and completely out of sorts . We don't know what we can do to get out from under it . But what if this mood and the underlying emotions had a message for us .
