đź’ś Happy World Breastfeeding Week 2026! đź’ś
This year’s theme is “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”
Today, I simply want to say thank you.
Thank you to every family who has trusted me to walk alongside you—whether we met for a single consultation, worked together through weeks of challenges, celebrated milestones, or simply shared reassurance when you needed it most.
Every feeding journey is unique, and it has been a privilege to be invited into so many of yours.
As we celebrate this week, let’s also remember that breastfeeding looks different for every family. Feeding at the breast, expressing milk, combination feeding, supplementary nursing systems, donor milk, or feeding expressed breast milk by bottle all require love, dedication and support.
Pumping is breastfeeding too. Every drop matters.
I’d also like to thank my fellow IBCLCs, breastfeeding counsellors, peer supporters, midwives, public health nurses, GPs, paediatricians, speech and language therapists, OTs, dentists and every professional who supports breastfeeding families. When we listen, collaborate and share our knowledge, we truly strengthen what works for the families we serve.
Here’s to every parent, every baby, every support person and every colleague working together to give families the support they deserve.
Happy World Breastfeeding Week. đź’ś
