🧊 Raynaud’s Syndrome – when your fingers and toes react to cold more than they should
Do your hands or feet feel cold even when others are comfortable? Do your fingers or toes suddenly turn white, blue and then red, with tingling, numbness, burning or pain? These may be symptoms of Raynaud’s syndrome.
During an episode, the small blood vessels suddenly narrow, temporarily reducing blood flow to the fingers or toes.
📍 Common triggers include:
❄️ cold temperatures and sudden temperature changes
😟 stress and strong emotions
🚬 smoking
👞 tight or restrictive footwear
-----------‐--------------
📍 A typical episode may happen in stages:
⚪ White – reduced blood flow
🔵 Blue – reduced oxygen supply to the tissues
🔴 Red – blood flow returns, sometimes causing throbbing, burning or pain
Raynaud’s can occur on its own, but in some cases it may be associated with other medical conditions. That’s why frequent, worsening or painful symptoms should not be ignored.
If Raynaud’s affects your feet, regular monitoring and appropriate foot care are especially important. When circulation is reduced, even small cuts, cracks or pressure areas may take longer to heal.
👉 Keep your feet warm, avoid sudden temperature changes, wear comfortable footwear and regularly check the condition of your skin and toenails.
