Two therapists may be equally skilled at supporting clients, yet one has a thriving private practice while the other struggles to fill their schedule. Often the difference isn’t clinical ability, but confidence in sharing their work and building their practice.

Power Up Your Private Practice offers a space to reflect, reconnect with your professional identity, and feel motivated about growing your practice.

In the workshop we’ll explore practical skills around:
📌 Marketing your work in an authentic way
📌 Managing the business and admin side of practice with more confidence
📌 Developing a clear and strong professional identity

If you’re curious about the workshop or would like to know more, please feel free to get in touch with any questions you might have.

I remember seeing a quote from Jennifer Garner, speaking to Parade Magazine about her divorce from Ben Affleck, where she said “It was a huge heartbreak for me to have something fail like that...but I had to come into my own. I thought, ‘Why did this relationship not work? What part of the failure is my responsibility?’ So I went to work on it. I started therapy.”

When people in the public eye speak openly about therapy, it helps normalise something that so many people benefit from. Support isn’t a weakness. It’s part of being human. 🤍

Therapists… can we talk about the business side of private practice? 🗣️

Most of us are trained to support our clients, but not to run a business - yet when we start out in private practice we’re expected to do both.

That’s exactly why I’m hosting Power Up Your Private Practice on Saturday 21st March. This online workshop will cover:

•Marketing yourself in a way that feels authentic
•Managing the business and admin side with confidence
•Developing a clear & strong professional identity

I’ll also be sharing insights I wish I had known when I started my own practice. The day will be facilitated in an interactive and experiential way, giving participants the opportunity to reflect, share, and overcome hesitations and blindspots.

Previous participants have described leaving the workshop feeling motivated and inspired to take steps that they had put off for ages beforehand!

Whether you’re newly qualified or more established, this workshop is designed to support you.

Last Chance for Earlybird: Use TRIBE26 for 10% off until tomorrow (Friday 7th March).

I regularly share this poem with clients and groups, and I found it especially powerful when I was going through my own wobble before taking the leap into self-employment.

It can be so challenging when things don’t seem to be going our way. However, continuing to keep the big picture in mind, trusting that things will work out while also being kind and compassionate with ourselves through the difficult phases is a form of resilience.

If you’re going through a tough time right now, remember that this too will pass, and be gentle with yourself ♥️

Overwhelm often creeps in when too much lands at once, whether there are unexpected changes, competing demands, or simply having too much on your plate. When everything feels urgent, it can be hard to know where to start.

The 4 Ds approach is based on the Eisenhower Matrix, developed by American President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and later popularised by Stephen Covey. It can be helpful to sit and draw a simple grid divided into four boxes and sort everything on your to-do list into one of them.

▫️Do: Important and urgent tasks that need to be prioritised and done immediately - do these now!
▫️Delegate: Tasks that need to be done but can be handled by others - share the load!
▫️Defer/Delay: Tasks that are important but not urgent - schedule for later!
▫️Delete/Discard: Tasks that are not important or urgent - remove them from the list!

Overwhelm eases when we pause and decide. 📝

✍️ Write a To-Do List, but also write a Done List ✅

At the start of the year, to-do lists can feel endless, pulling our attention toward what’s unfinished or still expected of us.

A done list gently shifts the focus.

It asks: what have I already managed today, even in small, quiet ways?

Managing unplanned tasks. Taking urgent calls. Asking for help. Showing up when it might have felt hard.

These things count.

A done list isn’t about productivity, it’s about recognising effort, especially when life feels busy, heavy, or overwhelming.

So yes, write the to-do list if it helps. But make space for a done list too.

You might be doing more than you realise 🤍

Looking forward to facilitating the IACP Supervisor CPD tomorrow, with 113 supervisors signed up.

We’ll spend the day exploring burnout prevention, both in how we care for ourselves as Supervisors, and how we support Supervisees in navigating it.

It will be a reflective, interactive day, with space for discussion and shared learning in breakout groups.

A lovely way to kick off 2026 by returning to work I genuinely love.

Anxiety and control often go hand in hand. When we feel anxious, it’s very human to try to manage that feeling by staying one step ahead, by pre-empting, preventing, and trying to control everything around us, from our environment to other people’s behaviour.

The difficulty is that much of this control is an illusion. The past few years have reminded us just how much is outside our control.

Letting go of what isn’t ours to control can feel scary at first, but it can also be deeply freeing. Trying to avoid anxiety at all costs often takes far more energy than allowing the feeling, meeting it with self-compassion, and focusing on what is within our influence.

A circle of control can be a helpful pause point:
🫧 Inside: Our choices, boundaries, rest, self-care, and how we respond

🫧 Outside: The behaviour of others, the weather, outcomes and decisions that aren’t ours

Sometimes peace begins with gently loosening our grip.

If you’re waiting for the fear to be gone before you take that step, you might be waiting a long time.

Fear often accompanies change, especially when something matters, or when we’re moving beyond what’s familiar. It deserves to be noticed and honoured, not pushed away or judged.

At the same time, fear doesn’t have to be in charge. You can have compassion for yourself and still move forward, if you feel ready in every other way.

Readiness isn’t the absence of fear, it’s the ability to listen to yourself and choose gently anyway.
