Paying attention to your child's selftalk is like paying attention to the kind inner voice that will accompany them into adulthood.
Paying attention to your own selftalk is key to this nurturing, as you'll naturally model ways to feel confident, be gentle with yourself and find a path through obstacles and big emotions (or be better able to help them catch themselves when they are not able to hold themselves with this care and kindness).
This post is a simple intro to using positive selftalk during homework time.
It doesn't have to be perfect, or accepted immediately. But think about whatlanguage, phrases and actions seem to help your child shift perspective.
Or what helps them persevere, even when they feel defeated.
Or what do they say to themselves after a homework session that gives you an insight into their world when it comes to school and learning.
And what thought reframes have you had to do for yourself around study or learning new things, and how can you share these in a supportive way?
