I talk a lot about pressure point piercings and how powerful they can be they’re the reason I specialise in them but moments like this really stay with you.
Two weeks ago, I was contacted by a mum whose 9-year-old daughter suffers with severe migraines. Migraines so intense that her life doesn’t feel like her own constant pain, and not knowing what it feels like to be pain-free. As a parent, that’s incredibly hard to hear.
Her daughter came in to me and she was an absolute dote such a brave little soul. For a nine-year-old to comprehend this kind of piercing and sit so calmly through it honestly showed me just how much pain she must already live with. She took it like a trooper.
Tonight, I got a call from her mum in a panic. Her daughter came to her saying her headaches were back, and when she checked, the piercing had come out. I advised that I could put the jewellery back in first thing in the morning so she could still go to school. But the pain worsened, and the mum rang again to ask if there was any way I could see her tonight.
I couldn’t leave a child in that much pain. So they came back in, and I was able to put the earring straight back in.
The message I received afterwards honestly made my night her daughter went home happy, singing, and pain-free. Her mum also told me that the moment the needle was removed and the jewellery was placed the day she was pierced, the pain in her head disappeared.
I’m often asked about age limits. This little girl is the youngest I’ve ever done, and it was a very considered decision based on her individual situation. Every case is different, and nothing is ever taken lightly.
This is why I do what I do 🤍
