🥂 Big News from Lilly’s Pharmacy! 🥂

We are absolutely over the moon to announce that we are FINALISTS for the Community Pharmacy Team of the Year 2026 at the Irish Pharmacy Awards! 🏆

Over the years, we’ve been incredibly lucky to have multiple awards and nominations under our belt, but this one feels extra special. Why? Because it’s a nod to our whole team. This isn’t just about one person, it’s about the heart, soul, and hard work every single member of our staff puts in every day.

Win or lose, we are already so proud of the family we’ve built here. Get to know the superstars behind the nomination:

✨ Aido – Our technician with the kindest heart, who selflessly looks after our customers day in and day out.

✨ Jennie – Our skincare and beauty advisor, a true fountain of knowledge for all your beauty needs.

✨ Aoibhin – Our OTC advisor, who always has a solution for every ailment.

✨ Martina – Our sales advisor, whose amazing eye for detail and styling is second to none when helping you pick that perfect bag, scarf, or piece of jewelry.

✨ Jane & Roisin – Our fantastic online team, keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

This incredible group is led by Ola, our fantastic integrative pharmacist (and Ireland’s first functional medicine pharmacist!), alongside her daughter Sally, who is always there to cheer the team on and ensure we have a happy, harmonious environment for everyone. 🤍

To our Ratoath community, thank you for being on this journey with us. We couldn't do it without you! 🤞✨

PCOS term has changed now to PMOS.
Researchers and experts finally agreed changing the name from Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) to Ploendocrine Metabolic O***y Syndrome ( PMOS)

WHY?
Because the condition is far more than just ovarian cysts!
It can affect the metabolic system in general and thats include many more players
Insulin resistance
Blood sugar Hba1c
Weight and difficulty to lose it.
Hormones for example insulin and testosterone

This condition can lead to :
type 2 diabetes, fertility ,inflammation and many more conditions linked to the above.
The new approach to this condition will have a wider scope when it comes to diagnosis and treatment.
It wont be just looking for cysts on the ovaries.

A new international study led by University of Galway suggests that having high levels of Viamin D in middle age is associated with low levels of Tau protein in the brain one of the markers of dementia and Alzheimer's disease ,years later.

Senior Author Professor Emer McGrath,Associate professor in Medicine and consultant Neurologist,University of Galway said:

“This study demonstrates an association between higher vitamin D in mid-life and a lower burden of abnormal Tau protein in the brain, a marker of Alzheimer’s disease.

Vitamin D in mid-life could be an important factor to protect future brain health. While previous research has linked low vitamin D in adults over 70 with an increased risk of dementia, this study is among the first to look at younger adults at mid-life, around the average age of 39.

Low vitamin D in mid-life may be an important target to reduce the risk of early signs of preclinical dementia in the brain"

Vitamin D3 benefits are numerous and should be considered as a supplement when deficiency is detected.
Good levels for optimum health is sometimes beyond normal levels in a blood test.
