Thank you to our regular class participants from both The Sanctuary, Dublin 7 and Skerries for joining us today at our seasonal Bealtaine-themed Anusara yoga workshop🤗 You are all amazing!

We learned so much in the process preparing this for you.
The practice towards accessible inversions invited ‘vitality, uplift, expansion, opening to the potential within our practice, welcoming a sense of fullness, celebration, joy, igniting freedom from within’.

We were reminded in our learning along the way that the journey towards inversions is so much more than the destination: “It’s not how far you go, it’s how you go far”

“Nature does not rush, yet everything is accomplished” Lao Tzu

Take your time, trust the process, trust the practice, meet your ‘Bealtaine moment’

When you listen and know the time is right “Soften expectations, gentleness can be a quiet form of strength”

We look forward to seeing you all again!🌸🤸🏼‍♂️🌸🧘🏼‍♀️🌸💕

With love from myself and We both forgot to take any photos of the practice (always learning) so here we are afterwards hugging each other outside Olive cafe. Thanks Owen!

I believe that everyone is creative. Creativity is not a rare ability. It is a fundamental aspect of being human.

It is for all of us.

Creativity is something we all have access to.

We can allow it to flow through us when we are receptive and open and willing to create to bring it to being something that wasn’t there before.

Being creative is not just about making art. It is a way of being in the world. Cooking for loved ones, gardening, reading, writing, crafting, or noticing the beauty and small things surrounding you. Attuning to your own creative flow.

In the words of Rick Rubin…

“To live as an artist is a way of being in the world. A way of perceiving. A practice of paying attention. Refining our sensitivity to tune in to the more subtle notes. Looking for what draws us in and what pushes us away. Noticing what feeling tones arise and where they lead. Attuned choice by attuned choice, your entire life is a form of self-expression. You exist as a creative being in a creative universe. A singular work of art.”

Doesn’t this sound like yoga!

A few years ago I came across a yoga teacher and I studied with her. Suzanna was an artist and also a yoga teacher, I reached out to her as I had read her book Yoga 365 and ended up studying with her in the winter of 2024. Her practices, and guidance changed how I approach my both my creative and yoga life. Sadly Susanna passed away a few weeks ago. On Saturday we honoured her memory.

Huge thank you to everyone who came along to practice with me.

I was delighted came along too! Myself and Ali did our teacher training together with and it was really great to see her!!

A few years ago I heard speaking to Andrea on it was an amazing interview and afterwards I bought Susanna’s book Yoga 365 after listening. I really love this book and have it beside my bed, it is such a great daily inspiration.

I was so interested in Susanna’s story, she came from the art world worked in MOMA and was curious about how her yoga practice inspires and intersects her creative life. My day job is writing and illustrating picture books, and I am also a passionate yogi. In 2024 I had just recently graduated as a yoga teacher. So I understand about wearing a few different hats. I am an artist but also a yogi and was struggling on how to navigate this.

I reached out and connected with Susanna and immediately felt such a connection. That winter I was lucky to be part of Susanna’s course 30 Things about Transformation, that focuses on Ganesha teachings and learnings. A group of us came together, from the US, New Zealand and Europe every week. Susanna was such a wonderful creative leader and such unique person - many people have said this over the past few days and honestly it is so true!! She was hugely generous with her knowledge of yoga, philosophy and also lot of fun, I loved her infectious laughter. A few times also we did co-working sessions just meeting and working in silence on our writing ideas. I will treasure those times. When I went to Paris last summer, I reached out to Susanna. I know how much she loved Paris. She gave me the BEST tips on the best places to eat and visit, when I was there I saw Paris through her eyes.

She did hope to return to Ireland someday, she was here when she was 9 and told me she had significant memories & vivid visuals from that trip. She was obsessed with drawing Celtic knots for a while after that too & doodled them all over her schoolbooks. I imagine a little Susanna getting in trouble for doodling at the back of the classroom… just like me!!

I am so heartbroken we didn’t meet in person, but so glad our paths crossed and value the time we had together.

Rest in peace dear Susanna xx
