Understanding Shiatsu: Meridians & Energy Flow
In Shiatsu, the body is viewed as an interconnected network of energy pathways known as meridians.
These meridians carry Qi (vital energy) throughout the body—supporting physical health, emotional balance, and overall wellbeing.
When energy flows freely → we feel balanced, calm, and vital
When energy is blocked or depleted → we may experience tension, fatigue, or discomfort
Through gentle, mindful pressure along these meridians, shiatsu helps to:
• Restore energy flow
• Release stagnation
• Support the body’s natural healing ability
Each meridian is also connected to specific organs and emotional states—highlighting the deep relationship between body and mind.

Shiatsu is a hands-on body therapy that combines rhythmic pressure (using thumbs, palms, elbows, and knees), gentle stretching, and subtle manipulation to encourage deep relaxation. As the body softens and releases held tension, internal energy flow strengthens and begins to move more freely.

This increased energy helps clear blockages, allowing the body to naturally rebalance. A helpful image is that of a slow-moving river, where debris has built up along the banks and around rocks—once the flow increases, the debris clears.

The body’s internal energy is accessed through acupressure points and by stretching major muscle groups, which in turn supports the free movement of energy through the meridians (energy channels). Available appointments this Thursday 11th June, next available will be on the 25th June.
