People pleasing isn’t who you are. It’s a pattern you learned.

And that matters.

Because when we turn a pattern into an identity… “I’m just a people pleaser”…. it can start to feel like something set in stone. A fact. Something we simply have to live with.

But patterns can be noticed and they can be interrupted. And with practice, rinse and repeat, they change.

Maybe you say yes when you want to say no.
Maybe you manage everyone else’s feelings before checking in with your own.
Maybe disappointing someone feels far more uncomfortable than disappointing yourself.

The first step is recognising the pattern while it’s happening.

This is exactly the kind of awareness we’ll be exploring in my free BREAK THE LOOP masterclass for professional & entrepreneurial mothers.

If you’re ready to understand some of the patterns keeping you stressed, stretched and unable to switch off, DM me “BREAK the LOOP” and I’ll send you the details.

This arrived after a client’s very first session with me.

“Beyond thank you for all of it. Beyond words.”

Messages like this stop me in my tracks.

Not because I need to be thanked but because I know what it can mean when someone reaches a place inside themselves that words cannot quite touch yet. I’ve been there.

Accessing that place beneath thinking, explaining, coping and holding it all together.

My role is to create the space. To guide and
stay present.
My role is to help her feel safe enough to meet what is ready to be met.

But she is the one who enters it.
She is the one who breathes, feels, allows and chooses.
She does the work.

I love my clients. I love this work. And I never take for granted that people trust me with these deeply human moments.

What a privilege it is to witness someone coming home to herself. ❤️

Correcting. Micromanaging. There may be a reason.
You’ve heard about fight, flight and freeze. Maybe even fawn and flop.
The thing is, you don’t have to be shouting to be in fight mode.

Sometimes it looks like:
Getting irritated when someone does something differently than you would.

⭕️Correcting. Controlling. Micromanaging.
⭕️Feeling your jaw tighten when somebody questions you.
⭕️Taking over because “it’s just easier if I do it myself.”
⭕️Getting defensive before you’ve even had time to think about what was said.

And perhaps the hardest part…
Bringing that same energy home to the people you love.

We tend to imagine “fight” as anger or aggression. But for women who are used to carrying a lot, it can be much more subtle.

It can look like you’re constantly leaning forward into life… managing, anticipating, fixing, pushing, holding everything together.

And when you’ve operated that way for long enough, it can simply start to feel like your personality.

It isn’t always.

Sometimes it’s a pattern your nervous system has become very good at running. And that distinction matters.

Because once you can recognise the pattern in real time, while it’s happening, you can intervene.

That’s what we explored in my recent Break the Loop masterclass. We got granular, went beyond the labels of fight, flight, freeze, fawn and flop and asked:

What does this actually look like in MY life?

Because awareness gives you something incredibly valuable:
choice.

Follow my page and keep an eye out for the next *Break the Loop* class. We’ll go much deeper into recognising these patterns and what you can actually do when you catch yourself in one.

It’s easy to feel like you’ve mastered something when the conditions are familiar.

Your car on the road you use every day.
No traffic. No one nervously gripping the passenger seat beside you. 😅

Then change the conditions.

New car. Unfamiliar road. Heavy traffic. Nervous passenger giving you “helpful” instructions…

Suddenly, the same driver has a very different experience.

Life isn’t so different.

It’s relatively easy to be patient, present, confident and grounded when you’re rested and things are going your way.

The real test comes when the demands increase.
When you’re tired. Someone pushes all your buttons.
Plans change. Work is relentless and your child is having a melt down when you have absolutely nothing left…

That’s when our subconscious patterns tend to take the wheel. And it’s also where self-mastery is built.

Expecting ourselves to respond perfectly every time creates more problems. It’s exhausting.
Increasing our capacity to stay with ourselves when the conditions get harder on the other hand leads to genuine growth.

Notice the reaction, regulate or anchor yourself,
and choose what happens next instead of handing the steering wheel to an old pattern.

You don’t measure mastery by how you drive on the easy road. You discover it when the conditions change.

We like to think we’re responding to what happened. But are we?

Often, we’re responding to what happened + the state we are already in.

When we’re rested, resourced and feeling safe, we have more capacity for nuance. We can pause. Get curious. Consider another interpretation.

Under sustained stress, that gets harder. Our attention becomes more tuned to potential problems. We can become more defensive, reactive or rigid. We may hear criticism where none was intended, assume the worst, fire off the reply only to later wonder why it got under our skin quite so much.

And this doesn’t just affect how we feel. It affects our decisions, our conversations, our creativity.
How we lead. How we parent. How we experience the people closest to us.

This is why I’m so interested in what happens before the reaction.

Can I notice the state I’m in?
Can I create enough space to recognise that my first interpretation might not be the only one?
Can I shift something in my body before deciding what this moment means or what I’m going to do about it?

The goal isn’t to become someone who never gets irritated, triggered or stressed.
It’s to have more choice about what happens next.

Same situation. Different state.
Different experience. Different response.

Changing your experience of your life starts right there.

It’s a practice. It’s not a given. It’s not automatic.

The times you don’t choose yourself, when it’s really hard to even like yourself, are information and opportunities.

Patterns don’t need to be your identity. Patterns can be changed.

I can help you.
Like I did my client, let’s call her Sarah, who shared; “Before working with Sanna, I would get angry very quickly, felt like I was never good enough, people pleased a lot and was constantly living in fight or flight while staying stuck in the past.
Since working with Sanna, I feel calmer and have learned that I can regain control and move through difficult moments without staying stuck in emotional or physical pain. I no longer feel guilty for taking time for myself and have enjoyed getting to know the new me and valuing important relationships.”

It all starts with a call. Dm “Call” and I’ll get you in for a Connection Breakthrough Session.

This is one of the hardest things for women to admit.

You miss your children while you’re working and you look forward to spending time together.

You tell yourself that tonight will be different and then everyone is finally home…
And all you want is an hour of silence.

You love them and you’re not a bad mother!
You’re just…exhausted.

When your nervous system is overloaded, even the people you love can start to feel like another demand.

The answer isn’t loving your family more. Over compensating for just having had the thought “I just need everyone to leave me alone.”

The answer is learning how to restore yourself.
Love, the woman you’re trying so hard to be is already there. She’s just tired.

I get it. I’ve been there.
There’s another way.

“Investing in myself has been one of the greatest gifts I’ve given my child.”
~Amy

When you finally sit down…
Does your mind start making a list? While all you want is to relax…

The laundry, emails, a client you still need to reply to.
The dinner you haven’t yet planned and work you should have finished.

You know how to rest, but somewhere along the way, you learned that your value is connected to your productivity.

So resting feels irresponsible instead of restorative.

Self-mastery isn’t about learning how to do more.
It’s learning how to be fully present in the moments when you’re doing nothing at all.

Rest isn’t something you earn. Or need to earn.
It’s simply something that you need.

If this resonates, let’s connect. My next immersive masterclass might be just what you’re looking for.

You worked for it and sacrificed for it.
You finally achieved it.

And then…Nothing.
No celebration and no satisfaction if you’re honest.

Instead, your mind immediately moves to the next project. The next deadline.
The next thing that still needs to be fixed.

This is one of the clearest signs that you’re stuck in the never enough cycle. And it has very little to do with ambition.

The problem is losing the ability to experience satisfaction, joy, and accomplishment along the way.
Because if success always moves the finish line, you’ll never arrive.

If this resonates, join me this Thursday and start enjoying the life you’ve worked so hard to create.

1 minute out of every hour of conscious breathing can change your life.

This was one of the first techniques I implemented when working in the corporate world. It was a game changer.

All you have to do is resting the moment and let it be what ever it is. Just be one aware, conscious of what you are feeling and simply breathe into it.
