A moment of calm for all you fellow exam parents this morning. They’ve got this! We’ve got this!

06/05/2026

A simple yet super effective Self-Compassion practice for exam students everywhere!

Step 1- This is hard, this is tough, I don’t deserve this, I don’t want this, this is suffering

Step 2- I am not alone. This suffering is what makes me human. Exams have been stressful since they began and they will continue to be stressful into the future. I am not alone in this suffering.

Step 3- be kind to yourself. I’ve got this, I can do this, I am enough, I have done lots, I know this, I am capable.

Wishing all students and their parents love, peace and compassion for the weeks ahead.

When I hear people talking about fulfilling lifelong dreams of running a marathon, or climbing a mountain, or writing a book I have often felt like I must lack ambition or drive because I don’t have something I’ve “always dreamed of doing”.

But in fact I do. From before I can remember I dreamed of being a mom. I mothered my baby sister from the second she was born, I mothered little cousins, neighbours, children I baby sat and random kids on holidays! At 14 I started teaching dance and my “babies” began to grow and grow. Many of whom are now moms themselves but will always be my first babies.

My path to motherhood has certainly not been easy, as I have spoken about many times before. Each day continues to bring new challenges as my three completely unique girls grow into amazing women.

I don’t savour every second, I lose my sh*t, I escape to the solitude of the car from time to time, I often bend under the load and can get overwhelmed by the magnitude of responsibility. But it is still my dream come true. I pinch myself that I have been this lucky.

I am grateful every single day that I get to be a mom, I am grateful for the other women that are travelling alongside me on this path, I am grateful to be able to support moms in the work I do, I am grateful for my Spanish and Mexican daughters who I’ve been lucky enough to mother for even a short time, I am grateful to be a mom in Ireland with the freedoms and safety that brings, I am grateful for this miraculous journey and excited and hopeful for what lies ahead.

So my millennial mamaness isn’t even sure what this trend thing is all about but looking back at 2016 was a blast.

Started the year hard in Tenerife with fireworks, happy hours and sun downers 🍹

Thankfully, because not long after we found baby number 3 (aka the greedy bonus baby) was on her way. 🤰🏽

We had just moved into our new house and spend alot of 2016 trying to furnish it!🛋️🛏️

With no foreign hols on the cards due to preggers probs Ireland was amazing and gave us the most beautiful summer right here! ☀️🌅

Our first proper summer in our own base on the beach! Met fab new friends and began to see how great this place was going to be for the girls to grow up. ⛵️

Spent as much time as we could with my Gran (Gigi) but wish I’d spent even more. Celebrated her 90th in style with the entire family up in ours. 🍰

Played and dressed up, possible peak Frozen era ❄️⛄️

Showered with love from friend and family about my gorgeous babas arrival. 🌧️

Although it was a little bit emergencyish (though they hid it from me) I ended up having the most gorgeous gentle cection birth with Claudia. 👶🏼

We arrived home as a family of 5 and the rest, as they say, is crazy history!! 🤪🤯🥴🥳🤗

So much more has happened in the past decade. We lost my darling Gran just a few years later so the message I’m taking from this flashback is send the invitation, accept the invitation, make every little thing into a party, celebrate EVERYTHING and share it all with the ones you love!

On this, and every I am so grateful for my amazing warrior premie Princess Abigail.

As many of you will know Abigail was born at 28 weeks and 1 precious day and spent the first 8 weeks of her life being expertly carer for by the incredible staff in NICU.

A time that was meant to be filled with balloons, teddies, annoying visitors and sleepless nights was instead filled with CPAP machines, Apnoea monitors, endless pumping, constant beeps from machines, sterile smells and drives home without your baby.

But it was also filled with love and laughter, mainly at my attempts at singing during hours of kangaroo care cuddles!

Abigail is now a healthy and happy 15 year old who has gone from a tiny 2lbs bundle to a kind, clever, hilarious and beautiful (she will kill me for this) young woman who now towers over me! Her premie determination and courage has never left her!

To all the nurses, doctors, carers and support staff in NICU’s all over the world, Thank You! To all premie parents, at whatever stage of your journey, you are not alone!

Really looking forward to this!

Thankfully we have come a long way in educating ourselves about the importance of looking after our mental health, though the journey is far from over.

On this I remind you to check in with your own hearts and minds.

Taking care of our mental health can mean something very different to each individual. For me personally, it can look different every day. Some times it’s through meditation and making space for silence. Other days it’s getting out in fresh air or fresh water or connecting with a friend for a chat. And sometimes it’s sitting down with my favourite nibbles and binge watching a feel good show.

Take a moment to ask your self what YOU need to do this weekend to look after your mental health and give yourself permission to make it a priority.

So, today I nervously stepped out of my assumed comfort zone and actually found myself right back in the heart of my true comfort zone.

Under the guidance of the talented and , I breathed, I grounded, I moved, I danced and I danced and I danced!! A dorment and almost forgotten part of me reawakened and I cannot wait to see what the next weeks and months have in store!

I brought with me this photo of my younger self, in the early days of my journey of womanhood. As a group we honoured and comforted our younger selves with words and wishes, with love and compassion.

Thank you .project for a truly beautiful and inspiring workshop. I haven’t stopped dancing all day.
