Living with MS: Lauraโ€™s Story๐ŸŒŽ

For Laura Barry from Waterford, living with MS means learning how to live with uncertainty while continuing to move forward with resilience and hope.

โ€œMS has made me more resilient and more appreciative of the small things in life. Itโ€™s taught me to slow down, listen to my body, and not take the good days for granted.โ€

As part of our World MS Day campaign, MS Journeys: Many Faces, One Community, Laura shares her experience of living with MS, the importance of support and the value of appreciating lifeโ€™s everyday moments.

Six years ago, Katie Oโ€™Loughlin was experiencing numbness and weakness. The fatigue was immense and she was always feeling tired, but she and doctors put the symptoms down to stress and being overworked.

It was only when she lost movement on the right side of her body that she was sent to the hospitalโ€™s emergency department.

Pride is a reminder. A reminder that belonging isn't given, it's built. ๐Ÿ’œ

At MS Ireland, we believe everyone we engage with, including staff, volunteers, or the people we support, deserves to feel truly seen.

Creating an inclusive culture is ongoing work, and we're committed to learning, listening, and taking action. Over the past year we have:

๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ 3 LGBT+ awareness trainings delivered to build understanding across our team

๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ Our EDI Committee meets regularly, listening and driving real change from within

๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ The Pride flag is displayed at our buildings this month, a simple, visible reminder that you belong here

๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ Inclusion is now woven into how we welcome every new team member from day one

We stand with every member of our community, fully, and as they are. ๐Ÿ’›

Share Your Perspectives on Digital Health and AI

As part of the MS Ireland EU Presidency Webinar Series, Dr Guido Giunti is exploring the opportunities and challenges associated with digital health and artificial intelligence in healthcare, particularly in the context of chronic disease management in MS.

To help inform this discussion, we are inviting researchers, clinicians, innovators, policymakers and others working in this area to share their perspectives through a short survey.

The aim is twofold:

- To better understand current developments, priorities and challenges in digital health and AI research and implementation.

- To gather insights that can help shape discussion during the upcoming webinar and identify areas requiring further attention and collaboration.

This is not intended to be a formal consultation or evidence review. Rather, it is an opportunity for colleagues working across the field to contribute their experiences, observations and reflections on where digital health and AI are having an impact, where challenges remain, and what developments may be on the horizon.

The survey should take approximately 5โ€“10 minutes to complete.

We welcome contributions from researchers, healthcare professionals, technology developers, patient advocates, policymakers and others with an interest in digital health and AI.

The survey will remain open until 19 June 2026.
