Hotel breakfasts... what's not to love? 😍

Protein-rich, filling, a little bit indulgent, and best of all... I didn't have to do the cooking! 🀣

After an early morning run around Dublin, this absolutely hit the spot.

One thing I love about Food Optimising is that breakfast can look like this. Eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and lean protein to keep me satisfied for hours.

No sad diet breakfasts.
No tiny portions.
No going hungry.

Just real food that keeps you fuelled for the day ahead.

Now, if only someone would come home and cook my breakfast every morning too... πŸ€”πŸ˜‚πŸ’œ

Up at stupid o'clock this morning for a run πŸ˜΄πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

The novelty of leaving a hotel room and actually running somewhere different was just too hard to resist. It's not something I can do at home every day, so I headed out and got a handy 5.5km done before breakfast.

It was already warm at 7am, and I think we're in for a cracking day weather-wise β˜€οΈ

No HYROX class for me tonight as I'll be on the train home later, so I figured I'd get something done while I had the chance.

One thing I've learned over the years is that it doesn't always have to be the longest run, the hardest session or the perfect workout.

Sometimes it's just about taking the opportunity that's in front of you.

5.5km done.
Fresh air.
A new city.
Job done. πŸ’œ

After a full day of DLP training, I decided to make the most of the evening and hopped on the DART out to Seapoint for a dip 🌊

I was actually meant to go last night when I landed, but a dodgy sandwich put an end to those plans 🀒 I was fairly sick afterwards, so I listened to my body, went to bed early and slept like a log.

The sea this evening was just what I needed. A bit of fresh air, cold water and time to clear the head.

On the way back, I grabbed a KFC rice bowl. Was it over my SWIPs? Yep 🀣 Do I regret it? Not really. I was hungry and it did the job.

Back at the hotel, it was still too early for bed, so I headed to the gym and did a quick 30-minute session with the weights. Not because of the KFC before anyone starts 🀣 Just because I had the time and felt like moving.

Now it's a cup of tea, a Freddo, another episode of I Will Find You and then bed.

A great day all round. Lots learned, a sea dip squeezed in, a bit of exercise, good food and a reminder that life doesn't have to be all or nothing. Sometimes you just do your best with the day you've got πŸ’œ

🧠 Food for thought...

I was reading an article this week about foods that may help support brain health as we get older. The five foods they highlighted were oily fish, berries, leafy greens, olive oil, and nuts and seeds.

What struck me was that none of them are fancy "superfoods" or expensive supplements. They're all foods we talk about regularly as part of Food Optimising. πŸ’œ

It's a lovely reminder that looking after our health isn't about being perfect. It's about those small choices we make day after day that quietly add up over time.

Sometimes the simple stuff really is the good stuff. πŸ˜ŠπŸ’œ

Sunday dinner done right 😍

Slow-cooked lamb with onion gravy, creamy mash, plenty of veg and a couple of Yorkshire puddings.

No fancy recipes. No diet food. Just a proper home-cooked dinner that filled my belly and made my soul happy. πŸ’œ

Sometimes healthy eating isn't about salads and smoothies. Sometimes it's about sitting down to a plate of real food, enjoying every bite and moving on with your day.

Absolutely divine. πŸ˜‹

Not quite the Summer Solstice, but it definitely had Summer Solstice vibes. πŸŒ…

This evening we headed to Cromane where we were very kindly hosted by Beibhinn at Samhradh's Sauna.

There were songs for peace, poetry, tea, biccies, chats around the fire, a sea dip and a sauna, all with the most incredible backdrop of sea, mountains and sunset.

What made it even more special was having Conal and Meadbh with me. They braved the dip, warmed up in the sauna and got to experience one of those simple evenings that remind you what life is really about.

No screens. No rushing. Just good people, community, nature and connection.

The world could do with a few more evenings like that. πŸ’œπŸŒŠπŸ”₯β˜•

A huge thank you to Beibhinn for hosting us and to everyone who attended and helped create such a warm, welcoming and peaceful atmosphere.

My cup is full tonight.

πŸ—πŸ§€ Chicken Parm for Dinner Tonight πŸ§€πŸ—

After a couple of days where the food choices weren't exactly winning any awards, I decided to keep dinner simple.

One chicken fillet, pan fried and topped with SWIP-free pizza sauce, my Healthy Calcium Choice cheese, a sprinkle of rosemary and thyme, then into the oven until golden and bubbling.

Served with air-fried baby potatoes and that was me sorted. πŸ˜‹

No fancy ingredients.
No expensive sauces.
No complicated recipe.

Just a reminder that one meal won't make or break your week, but a filling, satisfying meal can help you draw a line under the day and move forward.

Sometimes it's not about being perfect. It's about making the next choice a good one.

And honestly? This absolutely hit the spot. πŸ’š

🫐🍞 Today's lunch was a good reminder that simple food can be absolutely delicious.

I'd already had my baked oats for breakfast, so when lunchtime rolled around I fancied something a little different.

This was French toast made with my Healthy Fibre Choice, topped with a quick creamy protein topping made from protein powder and a splash of skimmed milk, plenty of blueberries and a drizzle of Sweet Freedom syrup.

One thing I'm trying to work on at the moment is using up what I already have in the house. The syrup has been sitting in the press for ages, the blueberries needed using, and the protein powder was already open. Sometimes the best meals come from looking at what you've got rather than heading back to the shops!

Could I have used yoghurt instead of the protein topping? Absolutely. But I fancied the extra flavour and protein today.

1 Healthy Fibre Choice and 6 SWIPs including the syrup and protein powder.

Simple, filling, plenty of fruit and it definitely hit the spot. πŸ˜‹πŸ«

Anyone else trying to use up bits from the cupboards, fridge or freezer before buying more?

There is no fear a Michelin-starred chef broke into my house and made this 🀣

After today's 25.2km run, I wasn't looking for fancy. I was looking for food!

Air-fried baby potatoes, burgers, bacon medallions, gherkins and a little sauce. Plenty of protein, plenty of flavour and exactly what I needed after a few hours on my feet.

The speed food police might have a few questions for me, but the gherkins are doing their best πŸ˜‚

Simple food. Proper recovery. Job done. πŸ’œπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ”πŸ₯”
