Winter is coming – brace yourself and get the flu vaccine!

Do you or your child have diabetes? If so, remember that:

People living with diabetes are much more likely to be hospitalised with flu;
flu vaccination reduces the risks of flu complications.

People with diabetes are at higher risk of flu, and the HSE recommends that you get ready for the flu season, and avail of the HSE Winter Campaign.

The Flu vaccine will give your immune system the top up it needs to help protect you from serious illness. The flu vaccine is available from participating GPs and pharmacies and is free of charge.

The children’s flu vaccine (nasal spray) is also available free of charge to all children aged 2 to 17 from participating GPs and pharmacists. Some children might be offered their vaccine in school.

If you live with a person with diabetes – check with your pharmacist/GP to see if you are eligible for a free flu vaccine too. For further information see Getting the flu vaccine - HSE.ie

Call in-store today and get your My Medicines List leaflet which you can fill in to help you remember the names of your medicines and what they are for. You can share it with any health care professional involved in your care or alternatively take a photo of the list to keep on your phone. We can also give you a printout of your regular medicines which you can add to where relevant.
