There is always a way, a solution, an alternative… think about it, take your time…. You can do it! 💪🏽🫶🏻❤️

Adapting yoga poses with props makes the practice more accessible, more enjoyable, and far more interesting because it transforms yoga from something people try to fit into… into something that meets them where they are.
•Props turn struggle into success.
•Props make poses feel safer and more supportive
•Props reveal the real purpose of the pose
•Props help people feel their bodies more clearly
•Props allow creativity and playfulness
•Props make yoga inclusive and inclusion feels good

🧘‍♂️ Dynamic Flow vs. Static Strength: Chair Yoga for LongevityDid you know you can build serious strength and mobility without ever leaving your chair?

This sequence features three foundational poses—Seated Warrior 2, Extended Side Angle, and Reversed Warrior—making it absolutely perfect for older adults, beginners, or anyone managing reduced mobility.

Here is exactly how we break down the video into two powerful phases:

1️⃣ The Isometric Holds (Building Raw Stability)First, we hold the poses statically. Isometric holds are incredible for improving stamina, building muscle mass, protecting joint stability, and developing deep core strength without joint strain.

The Setup: We always pay close attention to how our feet and legs are positioned. As we root our feet firmly into the floor, we activate the legs and create an external rotation in the thighs.

2️⃣ The Isotonic Flow (Enhancing Functional Mobility)Opposite to isometric holds, we then transition into isotonic movements.

Using the exact same stable Warrior 2 lower-body stance, we continuously flow side-to-side between Extended Side Angle and Reversed Warrior. The Magic: Instead of staying still, the muscles along the sides of our torso (the obliques and intercostals) must actively contract and stretch.

The Benefit: This continuous movement lubricates the spine, boosts circulation, and builds the dynamic flexibility needed for everyday tasks like reaching for items on a shelf.

💡 Which style do your joints prefer? Let me know in the comments below!

This isn’t just a mobility drill—it’s a quiet conversation between the mind and body. When you place a block on your hand and move, everything changes. Your focus narrows. The mental chatter fades. It becomes a moving meditation.

By exploring the mobility of the arms, shoulders, and upper torso from a chair, you aren’t forcing shapes. You are gently tracing your current boundaries and releasing deep-seated tension.

Balance isn’t static. It is a continuous, beautiful dance of micro-adjustments. As the body shifts to keep the block steady, it teaches us how to remain soft, calm, and centered amidst constant change. Move gently. Breathe deeply.

Discover what your body can do today.

Save this post for your next movement break, and drop a comment if you’re ready to try a moving meditation today!

Supported Yoga classes and Chair Yoga maybe slightly different.

Chair Yoga classes are mainly seated and depending on the group, I will add more time on standing posses with the support of a chair.

In my Supported classes I may use props to support the yoga practice with balance, comfort and help deepen into a pose.

It is not to make the practice easier but more fulfilling, enjoyable and honest.

Level up your chair yoga! 🚀

This standing variation brings extra heat to your legs and hips while giving your spine a massive release.

It is the perfect antidote to hours of sitting.

Some other tips to quiet the discomfort:

•A simple explanation of what is happening in the body anatomically - what muscles are involved and what benefits we may obtain from the movement or pose.

•A light hearted chat if appropriate (only if it grows within you as it is best to just be yourself and force nothing)

•On an strong hold I will add some simple cues to review posture or alignment.

•Have you maybe ever requested to turn the gaze to one side and then to the other so you can hold the pose for a couple more breaths? This is just an example. Would you like to share your favourite distraction cue? I would love to hear.

There are many ways to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, and some may resonate with you more than others. Here are some examples:

•Breathing Based like diaphragmatic breathing, extended exhalations…
•Movement & body based methods like gentle stretching, concentration based movements, restorative yoga…
•Mind-Body Practices like meditation, Guided imagery, Body scanning…
•Sensory & Environmental Methods like soothing music, aromatherapy, warm baths or showers, Nature exposure…
•Social & Emotional methods like safe social connection, laughter, humming and singing…
•Physiological Technics like Vagal nerve stimulation through cold exposure; quick splash that will trigger the dive reflex that will slow the heart rate.
Slow eating and mindful chewing….

Which one does resonate with you better?

Vinyasa means “to place in a special way”. This translation comes from the Sanskrit roots:
•Vi = “in a special way”
•nyasa = “to place, arrange, or set down”
In yoga, this becomes the idea of placing movement with intention - each pose arranged thoughtfully and linked with breath.

In my classes I love combining the peace and strength that brings holding a pose with the fluidity of expressive movements.

Together they create a balance practice that supports the following key essences:

•Stability and mobility
•Strength and softness
•Focus and expression
