Crystal Support: Lapis Lazuli 💙

For September, our Crystal Support is Lapis Lazuli.

It fits this point in the year beautifully.

September’s thread is moving us towards Libra, balance, clarity and quieter self-awareness as the seasons begin to shift. Lapis Lazuli supports that energy in a calm, thoughtful way.

It’s often connected with:

💙 Truth
🌙 Self-awareness
🗣️ Honest communication
✨ Perspective
🔮 Inner wisdom

What I particularly like about Lapis Lazuli for September is that it doesn’t feel rushed or overly forceful.

This month isn’t asking us to do everything at once.

It’s asking us to:

🌿 TEND what matters
⚖️ Notice what feels out of balance
🍂 PREPARE gently for the season ahead

Lapis Lazuli can be a lovely stone to work with if you want support around:

💙 Speaking honestly
💙 Listening to your own intuition
💙 Expressing yourself more clearly
💙 Stepping back and seeing something from a wiser perspective

You might use it:

📖 During journalling
🌙 In a quiet moment of reflection
🕯️ On your desk or altar
💭 When thinking through a conversation
✨ As a small reminder to come back to your own truth

It doesn’t have to be complicated.

Sometimes working with a crystal simply means keeping it nearby and noticing what it helps you return to.

For September, Lapis Lazuli feels like a gentle companion for balance, reflection and honest self-awareness. 💙

Do you work with Lapis Lazuli already? 🌙

Protection doesn’t always have to look dramatic. 🛡️🌙

Sometimes it can be something as simple as a small charm by the door, a moment of intention, or a gentle reminder that your space is allowed to feel like your own.

🔔 Witch’s Bells are often hung near a threshold — a doorway, entrance or other in-between space — as a symbolic form of protection and blessing.

In modern spiritual practice, they’re commonly used to:

🚪 Mark the entrance to the home
🛡️ Support energetic boundaries
🌿 Welcome in what feels calm, safe and aligned
✨ Gently discourage what feels unwanted or heavy

The threshold has long felt like a meaningful place.

It’s the point between:

🌙 Outside and inside
🏡 Public and private
🍂 Arrival and return

That’s part of what makes Witch’s Bells feel so special.

They don’t have to be used in a complicated way. You might simply hang them by your door and choose a small intention such as:

✨ May this space be protected.
✨ May only what is welcome enter here.

Some people also like to gently ring them when entering or leaving, using the sound as a way to clear the energy or simply mark the transition home. 🔔

Like so many spiritual tools, the meaning comes from how you use them.

🌙 If Witch’s Bells are something you already use, I’d love to know where you keep them.

**Violet Moon Practical Magic: A September Simmer Pot 🍂**

A simmer pot can be more than a lovely way to make your home smell good.

Choosing each ingredient with purpose can turn something simple into a small seasonal ritual.

For September, this blend reflects our month’s theme:

**TEND • BALANCE • PREPARE**

You’ll need:

🍎 1 apple, sliced
🫐 A small handful of blackberries
🌿 1–2 sprigs of rosemary
✨ 1 cinnamon stick
💧 Water

**🍎 Apple — harvest, gratitude & tending**

September is part of the Irish apple harvest, making apple a lovely symbol of what has grown through care.

As you add it, ask:
*What in my life deserves continued care?*

**🫐 Blackberries — gathering & recognising what’s ready**

A familiar sight in Irish hedgerows at this time of year, blackberries remind us to notice what’s ready to be gathered rather than always looking ahead.

Ask:
*What am I ready to gather from the work I’ve already done?*

**🌿 Rosemary — clearing, protection & preparation**

Here, rosemary represents gently clearing space and preparing your home for the changing season.

Ask:
*What do I want to welcome into my home this autumn?*

**✨ Cinnamon — warmth, abundance & energy**

Cinnamon brings warmth while reminding us that slowing down doesn’t mean stopping altogether.

Ask:
*Where would I like to give a little more energy?*

**To make it:**
Add everything to a saucepan, cover generously with water, bring up gently and then reduce to a simmer.

As the scent fills your home, return to September’s three words:

**TEND** what matters.
**BALANCE** what needs your energy.
**PREPARE** gently for the season ahead.

No special words or complicated ritual needed — simply a little moment to notice the season changing. 🌿🍎

⚠️ Never leave a simmer pot unattended. Keep checking the water level and top it up when needed. Don’t drink the liquid unless every ingredient used is food-grade.

Would you try this September simmer pot?

The Third Quarter Moon is a useful point in the lunar cycle for looking at what can be finished, simplified or released.
Not every release needs to be dramatic.
Sometimes it’s:
🌙 finally finishing the thing you’ve been putting off
🌙 clearing one drawer rather than the whole house
🌙 cancelling something you no longer want to commit to
🌙 putting away what belongs to the season that’s passing
🌙 deciding that something is simply good enough
🌙 letting a plan change instead of forcing it
As we move further into September, this Moon offers a gentle opportunity to create a little more breathing room before the next lunar cycle begins.
You could keep tonight very simple:
Light a candle, sit somewhere quiet and ask yourself:
What would feel lighter if I stopped carrying it into the rest of September?
You don’t need to have a perfect answer.
Sometimes recognising what feels heavy is enough to begin.

🌘 What are you ready to simplify?

September can bring that familiar feeling that everything should suddenly be organised again.
New routines. New plans. Back to school. Back to work. Back to doing all the things.
But maybe September doesn’t need to be about starting over.
Maybe it can be about tending what’s already there.
A habit you want to return to.
A friendship that needs a little more time.
Your home.
Your spiritual practice.
Your energy.
A project you’ve quietly been working on.
Or simply yourself.
You don’t have to change everything at once.
Sometimes the most meaningful progress comes from giving steady attention to something that already matters.
🍂 What are you tending this September?
You can answer with one word if that feels easier.

01/09/2026

September feels like a threshold month.

Summer hasn’t completely disappeared, but the light is changing, the evenings are drawing in and there’s a definite sense of the year beginning to turn.

For Violet Moon, September’s theme is:

TEND • BALANCE • PREPARE

🌿 Tend to what already matters — your routines, your space, your practice, your relationships and the things that still need care.

⚖️ Balance doesn’t have to mean giving everything equal time or energy. Sometimes it means noticing where too much is being asked of you, and where something needs more attention.

🍂 Prepare gently for the season ahead. Autumn doesn’t require a complete reset. Small changes can be enough.

September’s key dates:

🌗 4 September — Third Quarter Moon
A quieter point for finishing, clearing and simplifying. Think small — one unfinished job, one cluttered space or one thing you’re ready to stop carrying.

🌑 11 September — New Moon in Virgo
A lovely time for practical beginnings. Choose one realistic habit, routine or intention that could genuinely support you.

🌓 18 September — First Quarter Moon
A point for taking the next step and giving something begun around the New Moon a little momentum.

🍂 23 September — Autumn Equinox
A seasonal turning point, inviting us to notice the balance between light and darkness and welcome autumn.

⚖️ 23 September — Libra Season begins
Bringing themes of balance, relationships, fairness and perspective.

🌕 26 September — Full Moon in Aries
Encouraging reflection around courage, boundaries, independence and where our energy is really needed.

🌾 Throughout September — the harvest continues
Lúnasa may begin in August, but harvest traditionally continued well into September in Ireland. We’ll explore some of the folklore, customs and seasonal practices connected with this time of year.

September doesn’t ask you to reinvent yourself.

Tend what matters. Find the balance you need. Prepare gently for what comes next.

What are you most drawn to this September — tending, balance or preparing? 🌙

As August comes to an end, let’s take one quiet moment to look back before rushing into September.
At the beginning of the month, our theme was:
Gather • Ground • Grow
Maybe you gathered something you’d been working towards.
Maybe you found your footing after a difficult few weeks.
Maybe something new began to grow — even if it’s still too small for anyone else to see.
And maybe August didn’t go the way you hoped at all.
That counts too.
Not every month ends with a neat list of achievements and everything beautifully tied up with a ribbon.
Sometimes progress looks like:
🌿 getting through a difficult day
🌿 changing your mind
🌿 resting instead of forcing yourself onwards
🌿 noticing what isn’t working
🌿 asking for help
🌿 beginning again more gently
Before the month closes, you might ask yourself:
What am I proud of from August?
What helped me feel grounded?
What am I ready to leave behind?
What still needs more time and care?
You don’t have to carry everything into September.
Take what supports you, leave what doesn’t and let the unfinished parts continue growing at their own pace.

Thank you for spending another month with Violet Moon — for reading, commenting, sharing, learning and being part of this little community. 🤍

Three sprays, three different intentions ✨

Sometimes it’s nice to have a simple way to shift the feel of a room, set an intention, or just create a little moment for yourself.

That’s where the Violet Moon room sprays come in 💜

Harmony Mist
Cleanse • Calm • Protect
A lovely choice when you want your space to feel clearer, steadier and protected.

Restful Calm
Settle • Relax • Ease
Perfect for quiet evenings, winding down, or bringing a softer mood into your space.

Manifest Magic
Joy • Uplift • Positivity
A bright, uplifting spray for intention-setting, fresh energy and a little everyday magic.

Each one has its own feel, so it really comes down to what you need most at the moment.

Would you choose Harmony Mist, Restful Calm or Manifest Magic? ✨

All three are available from Violet Moon in 30ml and 100ml bottles.

Early tomorrow morning brings a Full Moon in Pisces, alongside a partial lunar eclipse. 🌕✨
Pisces energy is often connected with intuition, emotion, imagination and compassion.
Full Moons can already feel reflective, and eclipse energy is often treated as a time to slow down rather than adding pressure to perform a perfect ritual.
You might notice emotions sitting a little closer to the surface, or find yourself thinking about something you’re ready to understand, forgive or finally put down.
Instead of trying to force a big release, you could gently ask:
🌊 What have I been carrying that isn’t mine to hold?
🤍 Where do I need more compassion for myself?
✨ What’s becoming clearer now?
🌿 Where would stronger boundaries help me feel safer?
🌙 What am I ready to stop chasing?
There’s no need to stay awake, charge every crystal you own or make a life-changing decision before breakfast.
Your Full Moon practice could be as simple as:
✨ writing down what’s been on your mind
✨ having an early night
✨ placing a glass of water beside your journal
✨ taking a calming shower or bath
✨ allowing yourself to feel without needing to fix everything immediately
The eclipse will be visible from Ireland during the early hours, weather permitting, with its greatest phase shortly after 5:00 am.
If you’re awake to see it, take a quiet moment to look up. If you’re fast asleep, that’s perfectly fine too. The Moon won’t take it personally. 😄
Let this be a gentle reminder that releasing something doesn’t always happen in one dramatic moment.
Sometimes we loosen our grip little by little, until we realise we’re ready to set it down.
What are you ready to meet with a little more softness?

26/08/2026

Black salt might sound mysterious, but it’s actually a simple ritual blend often used in modern witchcraft for protection, cleansing and setting boundaries. 🖤

This isn’t cooking salt. Ritual black salt is not edible, so always keep it clearly labelled and separate from anything in your kitchen.

What you’ll need

🧂 Salt
🖤 A small amount of finely powdered charcoal
🥣 A bowl and spoon
🏷️ A labelled jar or container

Use activated charcoal powder or clean natural charcoal that’s free from added chemicals. Avoid barbecue briquettes or anything containing lighter fluid, binders or unknown additives.

I prefer charcoal rather than incense ash. It gives the blend its colour without needing to save or handle burned incense remains.

Add something extra

You can keep it simple or add one or two ingredients that suit your intention:

🥚 Dried crushed eggshells — protection and strong boundaries
🌿 Rosemary — cleansing and protection
🌶️ Black pepper — strength and warding
🌸 Cloves — protection and confidence
🍃 Bay leaf — intention and personal strength

I add crushed eggshells to mine because I love their symbolism of protection and creating a safe boundary.

Making your black salt

Add your salt to a bowl and slowly mix in a small amount of charcoal. A little goes a long way — unless you fancy turning yourself and the kitchen counter black too. 😄

If adding eggshells or herbs, make sure they’re completely dry and finely crushed.

As you mix, focus on your intention. You might say:

“My boundaries are strong. My space is protected, and only what supports me is welcome here.”

Transfer it to a clearly labelled jar.

Ways to use it

✨ Near your front door
✨ On a protection altar
✨ In a sealed spell jar
✨ Beside a written intention
✨ As a symbolic ritual boundary
✨ In a protection bowl

A few reminders

🖤 Don’t eat it or apply it to your skin
🖤 Avoid breathing in fine charcoal powder
🖤 Keep away from children and pets
🖤 Don’t scatter it outdoors — salt can damage plants and soil

You can make your own at home, or Violet Moon black salt is available ready-made in the shop.

Would you make your own, or prefer it ready-made?
