Anyone else's stomach doing a little flip thinking about going back after leave?

That mix of "I've got this" and "wait, what am I supposed to be doing again" — it's normal, and it's exactly what this workshop is for.

The Return-to-Work Reset Workshop
📍 Wexford
🗓️ 20th August, 10am–12pm

Babies welcome too

We'll get into the real stuff — the family/work balance juggle, setting boundaries that actually hold, childcare conversations, and just feeling like yourself again in work clothes.

One mum who came along said it gave her "the tools necessary to complete a smooth transition back to work" and a safe space to talk through the bits that were causing her anxiety before she went back.

That's the whole point.

Small group, real conversation, true support.

"This community saved me — what am I going to do when I go back to work?" A mum said this to me during a class, and it's stayed with me ever since.

That question is exactly why Re:Connect exists.

This was something a mum shared in class recently… and the room went "YES"!

We were chatting about that feeling so many mums have when their second baby arrives.

⚠️The guilt ⚠️

The worry that the second isn't getting the same undivided attention the first did.

The same amount of photos, forgetting to mark milestones, no baby box filled with memories, not noticing every little thing like you did with your first.

🫶Because with your first baby, everything is new🫶

You have time to notice every little thing.
You’re learning them, learning yourself, learning what motherhood even means.

And that brings all its own challenges.

👶 But with your second?

They get something different.

They get the mum who has learned to trust herself.

The mum who knows that not every cry needs to be fixed.

That the seasons do pass with time.

The mum who knows perfection was never the goal.

They don’t get less of you.

They get a version of you shaped by everything your first child taught you.

And maybe that’s the beautiful thing about growing our families…
..we’re not just raising our children, they’re raising us too 💟

💭 Did you ever feel this guilt when your second baby arrived?

The return to work isn't the finish line.

It's where the real transition begins.

💻The latest CSO research made me stop and ask a question i think more organisations should be asking:

❓️What happens in between returning.....and deciding to stay❓️

👇 I'd love to hear your experience in the comments 👇

📊 85% of women return to work after maternity leave.

On the face of it, that sounds like a success story.

But then I read further and saw another statistic in the latest CSO research...

🚨 Only 71.6% are still with the same employer one year later.

As an Executive Coach supporting women returning to work, I couldn't stop thinking about one question:

❓️ What happens in between ❓️

From what I see every week with clients, it isn't usually about capability.

It's about navigating one of the biggest transitions of adult life.

Returning to work after having a baby isn't just about going back to your desk.

It's adjusting to childcare.

Managing the relentless mental load.

Rebuilding confidence.

Overcoming self doubt.

Getting to know a version of yourself that's changed. But hard to put finger on how or what has changed within you.

Trying to perform at work while everything at home has changed too. And feeling like failing at both.

Yet so many women expect themselves to pick up exactly where they left off.

And too many workplaces expect the same.

💟 Returning to work isn't the challenge.

💟 It is making it work, staying and succeeding after returning is.

That's why meaningful support matters.

Not because women need fixing, but because every major life transition deserves support.

I'd love to hear from you...

💬 What was the hardest part of your return to work after maternity leave?

Or if you're a manager, what's one thing your organisation does that genuinely helps returning parents?

📢One thing I wish more mums knew...

Returning to work is another major transition.

Yet somehow, when we have a new baby, everyone reminds us, we should rest, we need to ask for help and we should take things slowly.

❓️When we return to work❓️

We're expected to jump straight back into being productive at work, catch up on months of emails/changes/updates, be present at home, organised, efficient... as though nothing much has changed.

But as we know too well, something has most definitely changed!

So instead of trying to "hit the ground running", what if you approached your return with the grace you wish you'd given yourself postpartum?

Keep things simple.

Accept help.

Let convenience be enough for a while.

Fill your freezer.

Keep nourishing, one handed, snacks in your bag, at your desk and in the car.

Lower the expectations you've quietly placed on yourself.

And remember that reconnecting with your little one after a day apart is productive too.

A cuddle on the sofa.
Reading the same story for the tenth time.
Skin-to-skin.

These moments matter just as much as answering emails.

You don't get a lasagne when you return to work.

🤔 But maybe you should.

And if no one else is giving you permission to slow down and focus on the basics, let this be it.

💟 Save this for when your return to work feels overwhelming, or send it to a mum who might appreciate the reminder.
