Congratulations to one of our longest standing customers Eddie O leary on 34 years in business . 💈🎉
In the first of our local business interest stories, we stopped to have a chat with Eddie O’Leary, proprietor of Eddie’s Barbers. 💈✂️🪒
Eddie has been in business in Selskar since 1992.
As he says himself, he struck gold when he came to Selskar, building up a steady customer base over his 34 years in business.
Eddie tells us that he originally started his career in Scissors Empire many moons ago before deciding to work for himself, which brought him to Selskar 34 years ago.
We asked Eddie how he feels about being in the business and in the same location for so long.
Eddie replied that the layout of Selskar has changed dramatically over the years, but in a positive way for his own business and the neighbouring businesses.
Eddie feels that he has great business neighbours and points out that currently in Selskar, you have a coffee shop, three restaurants, a craft shop, a hairdresser, a beauty parlour, a property letting business and a dentist.
Eddie feels there’s a real community feel to the area, with great footfall. The area is always busy throughout the year.
Finally, we asked Eddie what challenges, if any, he faces in his line of business.
Eddie replied that he is very lucky to have a very good, steady local business that he has built up over the years. He has many customers who have become friends, along with cutting the hair of many grandfathers, sons and grandsons from the same families.
Eddie states that there are a large number of barbers in Wexford, but he feels there is enough business for everyone. He wishes all his local businesses continued success and hopes to be around for another 34 years, cutting hair in Selskar.
