We transformed our old shed to a great outdoor play area for the children to play in.
This has created a wonderful space for them to explore, play and created ideas.
🌱 Benefits of Outdoor Play

Outdoor play is extremely important for children's overall development. It provides opportunities for children to be active, explore their surroundings and develop independence.

Physical development:
Running, jumping, climbing, balancing and throwing help children develop their gross motor skills, coordination, strength and balance.

Social development:
Playing outdoors encourages children to communicate, share, take turns, cooperate and develop friendships. Group games also help children learn how to negotiate and solve disagreements.

Emotional wellbeing:
Outdoor environments can give children space to relax, express themselves and build confidence. Successfully trying something new can give children a sense of achievement and independence.

Cognitive development:
Outdoor play encourages children to investigate, experiment, problem-solve and develop curiosity. Natural materials such as leaves, sticks, mud, sand and water provide endless opportunities for discovery and learning.

A partial solar eclipse will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, 12 August.
Looking directly at the sun can cause serious and permanent eye damage. If you plan to view the eclipse, always use certified solar eclipse glasses or a solar viewer and make sure children are supervised.
Ordinary sunglasses are not safe for viewing an eclipse. Never look directly at the sun through binoculars or a telescope.
Protect your eyes and enjoy the eclipse safely.

Importance of Reading & Wicklow County Council Library Service

Reading to small children and visiting libraries is crucial for cognitive development, vocabulary growth, and building lasting emotional bonds. Daily reading enhances literacy skills, focus, and creativity, while libraries provide free, accessible resources, community connection, and specialized programming to foster a lifelong love of learning.

If you were told that you could improve your child’s imagination, thinking ability, vocabulary, oral language, literacy skills, interpersonal relationships, empathy, attachment, and have great fun at the same time, you would rush to sign up for such an amazing programme. Imagine if you were told that you can do it yourself and it’s free? So, ‘what is this magic and where can I get some?’, you would ask.

Reading aloud to babies and young children will do all the above and more, and if you have access to a library, it can be completely free.
