HOW TO EXPLAIN FIGHT FLIGHT FREEZE TO A CHILD

🧠 What is Fight, Flight, or Freeze?

Have you ever felt your heart beating REALLY fast when something scared you? Or felt like you wanted to run away or couldn’t move at all?

That’s your superpower alarm system going off! 🚨

Your brain has a tiny part in it that acts like a smoke detector. When it thinks you’re in danger, it sends a big signal to your whole body that says:

“HEY! Something scary is happening! REACT!”

And your body has three ways it might respond:

🥊 FIGHT — You feel like you want to push back or stand your ground. Like when someone takes your toy and you feel really angry!

🏃 FLIGHT — You feel like you want to run away or escape. Like when you don’t want to go somewhere that makes you nervous.

🧊 FREEZE — You feel stuck, like you can’t move or speak. Like when a teacher asks you a question and your mind goes totally blank!

Here’s the cool thing — your body does this to PROTECT you. It’s been doing it since cavemen had to run from bears! 🐻

But sometimes our alarm goes off even when we’re not really in danger — like before a test or during an argument. ‼️

That’s when slow, deep breaths can help tell your brain:

💛 “It’s okay. We’re safe. You can calm down now.”

You’re not broken when this happens — you’re just human!🌟

🌿 Your nervous system needs your attention!

Life can keep us stuck in “fight or flight” mode without us even realising it Hypnosis & Wellness Coaching with Orla McKeown — anxious, overwhelmed, reactive, and exhausted. But here’s the good news: you have the power to reset your nervous system anytime, anywhere.

What’s the Story………Stories are more than entertainment for children — they are how little minds make sense of big feelings. 🌱✨

Through storytelling and metaphor, children can safely explore emotions like worry, anger, sadness, confidence, and courage without feeling overwhelmed. A frightened dragon, a worried rabbit, or a brave little tree can often say what a child cannot yet put into words.

Metaphors gently teach emotional regulation by helping children understand that feelings come and go, problems can be solved, and inner strength already exists within them. Stories create connection, imagination, safety, and learning all at once.

Sometimes the fastest way to reach a child’s heart is not through instruction… but through a story they can feel themselves inside. 💛📚

There’s a strange guilt around rest these days.
Like if you’re not doing something, you should be.

But your body doesn’t work like that.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is actually stop.
Not scroll. Not half-switch off. Properly stop.

Reflexology gives your system a chance to catch up - to settle, reset, and just breathe for a bit.

And weirdly… everything feels a bit easier after.

Shared with permission. This lady was so filled with anger, grief and memories of past traumas. After one session she freed her negative emotions, release a lot of anger, fear and sadness and just moved into happiness and acceptance. It was an emotional session but she was open and ready to finally bring herself back into harmony and balance. Not be use she was told to, but because she wanted to.

By using a blend of specific techniques and modalities past experiences which can become emotionally stuck in the brain and create a repetitive cycle can be released. We feel it, deal with it and together we heal it.

Using EFT, NLP hyonosis and The Bunny Talk ™️ process speeds up the process and the best part is you do not have to tell your story. This is not talk therapy/psychotherapy or counselling. It’s simply healing the wound in a subconscious level not picking the scab by talking about it. Perfect for children, teens and adults.
