Hadassah was honored to welcome 32 members of Argentina’s Agudat Dodim Congregation, one of Latin America’s leading Sephardic communities, for a special visit to Hadassah’s hospitals in Jerusalem. 🇦🇷🇮🇱

During their visit, the group had the opportunity to see Hadassah’s medical innovation and patient care firsthand, including visits to the Brain Catheterization Unit and Emergency Room, where they met with Dr. Daniel Salame. The visit offered a meaningful look inside the lifesaving work taking place at Hadassah every day, while strengthening the connection between Hadassah and Jewish communities across Latin America.

Thank you to the members of Agudat Dodim Congregation for joining us and experiencing Hadassah’s mission in action!

Dr. Liran Tiosano, a cataract and retina surgeon at Hadassah Medical Center, has been elected Chair of the Israeli Retina Society, the professional body representing retina specialists in Israel.

This is the second time in recent weeks and the fourth in recent months that Hadassah specialists have been chosen by their peers to lead their national medical grouping.

In his new role, Dr. Tiosano - an experienced clinician and researcher - will lead efforts to advance retinal surgery and retinal disease care in Israel, strengthen clinical and research collaborations, train the next generation of specialists and promote the integration of advanced technologies and AI-based tools in ophthalmology.

What an incredible week in Panama! 🇵🇦💙

This mission marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Hadassah Panama, highlighted by the rebirth of the organization at a landmark community event that brought together 170 participants to reconnect, strengthen partnerships, and celebrate more than 20 years of impact. The event also included a special tribute to Dr. José Cohen and Sara Cohen, recognizing their extraordinary contributions to Hadassah Panama’s growth and legacy.

We were also honored to welcome Prof. Malena Cohen-Cymberknoh, M.D., who shared Hadassah’s expertise in pulmonology and cystic fibrosis through lectures at Ciudad de la Salud, Pacífica Salud, and the International Congress of Pediatrics—strengthening important medical partnerships along the way.

A special thank you to Hadassah International Panama President Bianca Levy whose leadership and dedication made this meaningful week of events possible. An incredible week of connection, collaboration, and new beginnings for Hadassah Panama!

The immunotherapy revolution and personalized medicine

Hadassah continues to advance the future of personalised medicine -- including through pioneering research and innovation in allergy and immunotherapy.

In a recent article in Ynet, Prof. Yuval Tal explains how a deeper understanding of the immune system is transforming the way physicians diagnose and treat disease. Rather than focusing solely on a patient's diagnosis, Hadassah specialists are identifying the underlying immune pathways driving illness, allowing for more precise, targeted and effective treatments.

This approach has already helped restore hope for patients with complex conditions, including one cancer patient whose debilitating symptoms were dramatically relieved after Hadassah physicians identified a new treatment strategy based on immune mechanisms rather than the disease itself.

From challenging long-held diagnoses to developing innovative treatments, Hadassah remains at the forefront of patient-centred care, using science, precision medicine and clinical expertise to improve lives and shape the future of healthcare.

From Jerusalem to Tokyo: Advancing Brachytherapy Worldwide 🌍

A proud moment for Hadassah’s Sharett Oncology Institute!

Dr. Marcel Fang, Director of Gynecologic Radiation Oncology at the Sharett Institute, represented the Israeli Ministry of Health at an international professional meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Tokyo.

The meeting brought together experts from around the world to strengthen capabilities in advanced brachytherapy for cancer treatment, explore new technologies, identify professional needs, and encourage greater international collaboration.

Dr. Fang shared the knowledge and experience developed at Hadassah and across Israel while exchanging insights with global specialists on image-guided brachytherapy, professional training, and strengthening clinical care for patients with a wide range of oncologic diseases.

We are proud to see Hadassah’s expertise represented on the global stage and to continue sharing knowledge that helps advance radiation oncology and cancer care worldwide.

As extreme wildfires continue to affect parts of Western Europe, the impact is being felt far beyond the areas directly touched by the flames. Wildfire smoke can travel long distances, affecting air quality and raising concerns about what breathing that air can mean for our respiratory health.

Prof. Malena Cohen-Cymberknoh of Hadassah explains how exposure to wildfire smoke can affect the lungs, which respiratory symptoms and warning signs we should be paying attention to, and when it’s important to seek medical attention.

With fires, smoke and poor air quality affecting so many communities, staying informed is an important part of protecting our health and looking out for those around us.

Hadassah Medical Organization is transforming lives through innovative eye surgery.

For Aya, a teacher from Jerusalem living with advanced keratoconus - a progressive deformation of the cornea - everyday tasks had become overwhelming. Constant pain and severely impaired vision affected her ability to drive, teach and even navigate daily life.

At Hadassah, Dr David Smadja and Dr Itay Lavy performed an advanced procedure using a ring made from donated human corneal tissue, rather than a synthetic implant. The innovative technique helped reshape and stabilise Aya’s cornea, dramatically improving her vision while reducing the need for more invasive surgery.

Today, Aya has returned to teaching, driving and living independently - regaining not only her sight, but also her quality of life. This remarkable case reflects Hadassah’s commitment to pioneering treatments that combine clinical excellence, innovation and compassionate, patient-centred care.
