A new research grant is helping Hadassah advance the future of transplant medicine.

Hadassah hospitals’ Transplant Unit has been awarded a grant from the Israel Science Foundation to study liver aging and the role telomere dysfunction may play in liver and lung disease.

Led by Dr. Abed Khalaileh and Dr. Ashraf Imam, together with Dr. Dudy Tzfati of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the research aims to deepen understanding of how organs age and explore new ways to improve transplant care.

The findings could help physicians assess donor livers more precisely, expand the potential use of organs from older donors, and support the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for transplant patients.

As one of Israel’s largest transplant units, Hadassah continues to turn complex clinical challenges into research that can ultimately improve patient care.

Could phage therapy help fight infections that are becoming harder to treat with antibiotics?

Researchers from Hadassah Medical Organization and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem are part of a major international trial studying personalized bacteriophage therapy for recurrent, antibiotic-resistant urinary tract infections.

Backed by a $17 million EU grant, the study brings together 20 partners across 13 countries and will include around 220 women with chronic E. coli infections.

By using viruses that specifically target bacteria, researchers hope to develop more precise treatment options and advance the global fight against antimicrobial resistance.

Hadassah continues to serve as a global hub for medical knowledge, training and collaboration. 💙

A royal delegation from South Africa recently visited Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem to explore future medical cooperation and learn more about Hadassah’s approach to clinical excellence, international training and humanitarian outreach.

The delegation met with Hadassah leaders to discuss strengthening medical expertise, building long-term professional relationships and expanding opportunities for physicians to train in Jerusalem and bring that knowledge back to their communities.

On October 7, Hadassah became part of the stories of Israelis whose lives were changed forever.

Among them were Moshe and Diana Rozan, who fought to survive the attack and ultimately found lifesaving care at Hadassah Medical Center under Dr. Michael Chernofsky.

Today, as their kibbutz continues to rebuild, their family has welcomed a new granddaughter, a new life born into a community that has endured so much. In the midst of grief, her arrival is a powerful reminder of what Israel continues to choose: life, family, hope and the strength to rebuild.

At Hadassah International, we remember the families torn apart, the communities devastated and the unimaginable pain that continues to be carried across Israel. We stand with all those carrying the memory of October 7 forward.

Hadassah expertise is helping shape the conversation around trauma, resilience and mental health.

Following the recent Flydubai incident, Dr. Shiri Ben-David, Head of the Department of Psychology at Hadassah Medical Organization, was called on to share expert insight into how people may respond in the immediate aftermath of trauma—and what those reactions can mean over time.

Dr. Ben-David explained that in the first days after a traumatic event, reactions such as anxiety, difficulty sleeping, panic, hesitation and hypervigilance can all be completely normal.

She also emphasized that long-term recovery looks different for everyone. Some may experience PTSD or other trauma-related symptoms, while others may develop greater resilience or even post-traumatic growth. The impact of cumulative trauma is especially complex, particularly after years of conflict and uncertainty.

At Hadassah International, we are proud to amplify the expertise of Hadassah’s medical and mental health professionals—sharing knowledge that supports communities in Israel and contributes to a broader global understanding of trauma, recovery and resilience.

Hadassah’s fight against cancer is building new connections in Germany. 🇩🇪

Following RNA Horizons 2026 in Munich, Hadassah leaders joined Germany’s medical and innovation community at Brainlab headquarters to explore how international collaboration can help accelerate the future of cancer research and treatment.

At the Hadassah Cancer Research Institute in Jerusalem, physicians and scientists are advancing research across immuno-oncology, RNA-based therapies, cell therapy, early detection, precision radiotherapy and more, with a focus on translating scientific discoveries into clinical progress. RNA Horizons 2026 offered a powerful platform for taking that work beyond Jerusalem, bringing together leading researchers, clinicians and biotech innovators in Munich to advance RNA science and its therapeutic potential, including in cancer.

Thank you to Stefan Vilsmeier and Brainlab for hosting us, and to Micky Saks, Michal Lotem, Aron Popovtzer and Amalia Herszkowicz for sharing Hadassah’s expertise and vision.

Hadassah participated in a groundbreaking oncology trial with results that have stunned the medical world!

For the first time, a personalized mRNA-based cancer therapy has shown positive, statistically significant results in a Phase 3 clinical trial by Moderna and Merck. Hadassah Medical Center, a leader in personalized cancer treatment, was among the centers that participated.

The treatment uses genetic sequencing to identify the unique mutations in each patient’s tumor and create a personalized therapy designed specifically for them.

“This requires a level of personalized medicine that, until now, the medical world has not been able to provide,” explains Dr. Jonathan Cohen, Director of the Oncology Clinical Trials Unit at Hadassah.

Hadassah is now recruiting patients for treatments using the same approach for lung cancer and metastatic melanoma, with research continuing across additional cancer types. This breakthrough represents an exciting new chapter in personalized cancer treatment—and Hadassah is helping lead the way.
