The Aromas I Use in Clinic: Grapeseed Oil

Sometimes it's the smallest details that shape the treatment experience.

For gliding cupping therapy, I often use grapeseed oil as a carrier oil. Its light texture allows the cups to move smoothly across the skin, while its subtle, natural aroma adds a sense of comfort and calm.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, treatment is about more than techniques alone. The environment, the atmosphere, and how a patient feels during a session all matter.

Gliding cupping is commonly used to help release muscle tension, support circulation, and encourage relaxation. Combined with a gentle oil, the experience can feel both grounding and restorative.

Every element of a treatment is chosen with intention.

Have you ever experienced gliding cupping?

🌿 June & The Heart: Harmonizing the Transition into Summer Energy
As we cross the threshold into June, we are not yet at the blazing peak of summer, but rather at the delicate, potent entry point of the Fire element. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this seasonal transition is as much about the geography of our inner landscape as it is about the rising temperature outside.
Fire governs the Heart, and the Heart houses the Shen (神) — our spirit, consciousness, and emotional vitality.
As seasonal Qi expands outward, our emotions naturally follow. June invites us to open, connect, and express joy. Yet this shift from the yin of spring to the yang of summer can destabilize the Shen if we are not anchored.
Every element carries a virtue and a shadow. For Fire, the emotion is Joy (Xi - ĺ–ś). In balance, it brings quiet contentment, mental clarity, authentic connection, and restful sleep.
When June heat agitates the Heart, joy can become over-excitement, restlessness, anxiety, or a scattered mind. You may feel easily startled, emotionally “wired,” or notice racing thoughts at bedtime.
The goal for June is not to burn brightly and exhaust ourselves, but to kindle a steady flame that warms without scorching.
3 Internal Practices for the Month
To transition smoothly, focus on anchoring Heart Qi:
In TCM, excessive talking or chaotic socializing can drain Heart Qi. Practice conscious listening and intentional silence to keep your energy from scattering.
When anxiety or restlessness appears, use slow, grounding breathwork to settle the Shen back into its palace — the Heart.
Wake with the early summer light, but begin your day with gentle movement like Qi Gong to absorb the season’s vitality while keeping your fire rooted.
“Joy is not loud or chaotic; true Heart joy is a spacious, peaceful stillness.”
As June warms and speeds up, tend to your inner climate. Let your heart be warm, but keep your mind cool.

Are you feeling wired but exhausted?
Experiencing tension headaches, dizziness, irritability, restless sleep, or tight shoulders from ongoing stress?

One herbal formula I sometimes use in clinic for this pattern is Tian Ma Gou Teng Yin — traditionally used to calm internal wind, ease tension, and support nervous system balance.

A beautiful formula for when the body feels overstimulated and unable to fully settle.

I prescribe herbal formulas only after a personal consultation, to be sure they match your body, symptoms, and any medications.

My work brings together acupuncture, herbal medicine, and gentle breath-based practices to support the body as a whole.
Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, I listen to the deeper patterns beneath them — how the body holds stress, where energy becomes constrained, and what is ready to restore.
Each session is quiet, precise, and deeply individualized, creating space for regulation, integration, and a natural return to balance.
This is care that moves at your body’s pace — steady, attentive, and grounded in Traditional Eastern Medicine.

Healing is not only about the body. It’s also about what we hold inside.

Our emotions leave an imprint. When they are not expressed, the body often carries the weight.

In my sessions, we create a space for regulation and awareness — to listen to your body, your breath, and what you may be holding beneath the surface.

• Awareness — noticing what is present
• Expression — allowing what needs to be felt
• Release — letting go with support
• Return — coming back to balance & ease

This is not about “fixing” — it’s about supporting your system to feel safe enough to shift.

Acupuncture, breath, and presence can gently support your nervous system
and help the body remember safety.

May is a time when energy rises outward and upward.

How to support that movement in your life so that your life flows?
– Walk 10–15 minutes in the morning light
(no phone, just let your system wake up slowly)
– Choose one warm meal a day
(soup, rice, eggs, something simple and cooked)
– Carry a water bottle
sip regularly instead of drinking all at once
– Open a window or step outside
for a few minutes even in the middle of a busy day
– Don’t fill every space in your calendar
leave one small pocket of “nothing”

Be gentle with yourself this month.
You don’t need to do more — just allow a little more space for flow.

With warmth,
Juyon
