My Listening Space

My Listening Space We all have felt a need for someone who would listen to our innermost turmoils without any judgement Who are we? What we offer? Why? Nothing is too small or big.

We are a group of professionals from the field of education (specialization in guidance and counseling) and medicine. We offer Active Empathetic Listening to you. Over time we all have some or the other negative experiences which lead to development of negative emotions inside of us. These negative emotions develop discomfort in the body (and if not worked upon in time, tend to make us bitter). In

this situations, often we feel a need of someone who would listen to us, our innermost fears, frustrations, anger. Someone who would listen, without judging, without evaluating, without labeling us. Hence this space...

When we are in this situation, we don’t even want anyone to give us an input or solution; in fact (if we reflect) it puts us off when we are given a suggestion. We just want to be heard uninterrupted, with a genuine interest, care and respect. It’s in this genuine and active listening where, after we have expressed that we start feeling alive, that we matter and slowly we are able to hold our lost space and deal with the situation on our own in the most appropriate way. Some Examples:
Mostly all of us are able to deal with situations that life throws at us, whether personal or professional. But at times it happens that we experience something that comes as a jolt and we don’t know what to do/how to do/where to go/whom to ask/we are at sea. Situations could be varied like,
- one fine day you go to the office and you are asked to resign.
- you discover that your colleague has been passing your research as his own in front of the boss.
- your and your in-law’s parenting style differs and that suffocates you.
- miscarriage.
- failed attempts at conceiving.
- you overhear your partner doing lovey-dovey talk with someone.
- you discover a packet of condoms in your teenage daughter’s cupboard.
- you overhear your best friend confiding to someone that it was she who stole your
notes just before the examinations.
- you want to take up literature but your parents want you to study science.
- your parents do not trust you and are very judgmental about you.
- you see your boyfriend at the corner pan shop, smoking (and he has always
maintained to you that he does not smoke). The situation could be anything. Anything that takes us unawares, can pull the carpet from under our foot. Of course we all are surrounded by loving family and friends but many times we feel a hesitation in talking about our situations with them. Again there could be many reasons.
1. We are worried about what the other person may think about us.
2. We are worried about confidentiality.
3. The other person will get worried for us.
4. We will get a lot of unsolicited advice.
5. We may be told, it happens and we may be given the Karma theory. In short we would have spoken also but in place of having got relief, our issue would have got compounded. It’s for this GENUINELY required relief, to allow us to normalize, that we need ACTIVE and EMPATHETIC LISTENERS. AEL’s don’t offer solutions or sympathy, they do not judge you based on your outburst, they do not form opinions about your persona. They take you as a human being (like any other) who has reached an impasse in life, who is struggling, and who sooner or later will come out of it and be back in his element. If you are looking for a space to express freely, where you can share your emotional turmoil, where you as an individual will be respected and heard, do get in touch with us. Speak out...Feel light...Fly!
