with Udgam Trust and Pravaha jointly organized consulttation meeting for inclusion of the voice of the most marginalized of Sanitation and Rag Pickers at VI.
The current note describes how, WSSCC and FANSA propose to work with and support the South Asian Governments to achieve inclusion of these diverse groups including women, adolescents, elderly and the people with physical disability, and sanitation workers at the SACOSAN VI. Community representatives from each of these constituencies will be identified for participation in SACOSAN VI by holding a series of consultation meetings with members of respective constituencies. Creating opportunity for their direct participation at SACOSAN VI and ensuring their voices are heard by respective governments is the first step to their inclusion in developing future commitments and strategies for sanitation progress in South Asia. The consultation meetings will also be the platform to identify the issues and barriers to access sanitation by each group and develop strategy for sustained engagement with WASH network. It is hoped that the conference will provide adequate opportunity for each group to voice their concerns.. WSSCC plans to put in place a platform for these groups to interact with WASH networks. Document with key issues, policy recommendations including response from SACOSAN VI will be developed for national advocacy to ensure the benefits of sanitation progress are enjoyed by all.
