Are you making the “natural” mosquito mistake? 🦟
With Dengue and malaria on the rise, keeping our kids protected is a daily battle. But a lot of popular advice out there isn’t actually backed by pediatric research. If you are currently burning coils or relying purely on “natural” patches for your baby, it’s time for a quick reality check.
Swipe through for the crisp, no-nonsense breakdown of what is actually safe for Indian households and schools.
THE HOME CHECKLIST
Coils: ❌ Never use. One coil releases the same harmful smoke as roughly 100 ci******es, heavily irritating small lungs.
Liquid Vaporizers: ⚠️ Use the “2-Hour Rule.” Turn it on high with the doors/windows closed 2 hours before bedtime while the room is empty. Unplug it right when your child enters to sleep so they don’t breathe the fumes all night.
0–2 Months Old: ❌ Zero chemicals. No creams, lotions, or oils. Stick strictly to physical mosquito nets and full clothing.
THE SCHOOL SHIELD FORMULA
Because daytime Aedes (Dengue) mosquitoes bite during school hours, your child needs long-lasting protection before they catch the bus:
Fabric Roll-Ons (Best Choice): Apply 4 dots on their uniform (shoulders and ankles). It creates a powerful shield using plant oils without ever touching or irritating their skin.
Odomos (Creams/Gels): Safe for babies over 2 months. Apply a thin layer only on exposed skin (arms/legs). Never on their hands to prevent them from rubbing it into their eyes or mouth.
