/ • svaas /• svaasá

Originating from the ancient Indian scriptures, śvas is a Sanskrit word for ‘breath’... and that what lies with it, the quiet renewal of life - pranà.

At Ranjit’s SVAASÁ time expands,
and that very meaning is felt generously.
Courtyards open into tranquility.
Days unfold gently. Nights rest peacefully.

in stillness . a sanctuary

Welcome to our ancestral home, a place of warmth, a place of pause.. long enough to breathe again.

Amidst the quiet turns of heritage, a haveli resides.

From Katra Ahluwalia in the heart of the Walled City to the wide, tree-lined Mall Road, the Mehra family carried with them not just their belongings, but their way of life: generosity, hospitality, and the quiet dignity that defined their lineage.

What once stood as the ‘guest wing’ of a palatial haveli is now Ranjit’s SVAASA.. a home that has welcomed travellers, poets, artists, statesmen, storytellers, and seekers across generations.

It’s courtyard still hums with the same warmth.
It’s walls still whisper the same welcome.
It’s air still holds the same breath of belonging.

Here, the welcome feels familiar.

History is not merely written in books; it is carried forward from generation to generation.. witnessed, lived, and lovingly passed down.

In the once-quiet lanes of Amritsar’s walled city settled a family of traders who journeyed along the Silk Route, carrying spices and tea from Afghanistan and beyond to the lush gardens of Assam and Bengal.

Life was celebrated, remembered, and savored within the embrace of the Old City. Of the few families who stepped beyond its walls, the Mehra family was among the four, finding their new home on Mall Road.

The streets around still echo their name; the walls within still hold their breath. Their imprint on Amritsar shehr remains visible even today.

This quote by the Sufi saint Rumi, to me seems so apt for all the Hospitality world personnel.

'God! Take my soul to that place where I may speak without words.' - Rumi

It is understood that in our Hospitality realm we are to respond proactively to our guests thoughts, expressions and behaviour. Our actions mean everything, be it any department, our actions speak louder than words.

The unspoken communication is the skill that one should master as that gives an edge; compassion beyond formal responsibility, warmth beyond professional attention and an intuition beyond the understanding of body language alone.
