What should be on your plate? 🥗

The answer isn’t the same for everyone.

Someone managing diabetes may need to watch carbohydrate portions, while someone with heart disease may benefit from more fibre and healthier fats. During pregnancy, nutritional needs change, and for people with kidney disease or undergoing cancer treatment, food choices may need extra care.

This World Food Day, we’re looking at how everyday foods can support different health needs, from heart and liver health to stronger bones and joints.

Because healthy eating isn’t just about what you eat. It’s also about what your body needs.

Swipe through to explore food choices for different health conditions, and save this guide for your next grocery trip.

Remember: These are general dietary recommendations. Individual nutritional needs vary, so consult your doctor or clinical dietitian.

Before surgery, your anaesthesiologist may ask you several questions. Some may seem routine, and others may feel unrelated to your surgery. But every question has a purpose.

Your medical history. Your medications. Your allergies. Your past experiences with anaesthesia.

Even a detail you consider insignificant could help your anaesthesiologist make important decisions about your care.

So, the next time you’re preparing for surgery, don’t hesitate to share. Be open, be honest, and don’t leave out information because you think it doesn’t matter.

Does this sound like your daily routine?

Sit. Commute. Sit. Scroll. Lift. Repeat.

A long commute, hours at a desk, back-to-back screens, followed by a workout or more sitting at home. It feels normal because we do it every day.

Your spine, however, experiences the whole routine.

This World Spine Day, think beyond “good posture”. Give your spine what your routine often doesn’t: movement, strength, variation and recovery.

And if back or neck pain keeps returning, don’t let that become part of the routine too.

Are you cleaning your hands the right way? 🧼

We wash our hands every day, but are we cleaning every part of them?

Proper hand hygiene is not just about washing your palms. It’s about paying attention to the areas we often miss.

Here’s how to do it right:

1. Palm to palm: Rub your palms together.
2. Back of hands: Rub each palm over the back of the other hand.
3. Between fingers: Interlace your fingers and clean the spaces between them.
4. Back of fingers: Rub against the opposite palm.
5. Thumbs: Rotate each thumb in the opposite palm.
6. Fingertips: Rub fingertips in a circular motion against the opposite palm.

When washing with soap and water, scrub for at least 20 seconds, then rinse and dry thoroughly.

In a heart attack, time can directly affect how much heart muscle is saved.

For eligible STEMI patients, one important measure is Door-to-Balloon Time: the time from hospital arrival to opening the blocked artery during emergency angioplasty.

The faster blood flow is restored, the better the chance of limiting heart muscle damage.

Know the signs. Act early. Reach emergency care quickly.

🟢 When do blood clots Protect You?

When you’re injured, your blood forms a clot to stop bleeding and begin healing.

đź”´ When They Put You at Risk?

Sometimes, clots form inside blood vessels and block normal blood flow.

What increases the risk?

• Prolonged immobility
• Surgery or hospitalisation
• Pregnancy and certain hormonal medications
• Some medical conditions

Every person in their 30s and 40s must have heard parents complaining about joint pain.

A lot of times, we ignore it as it eventually becomes a topic of daily discussion.

Let’s not normalize that - that pain deserves attention.

A sudden collapse can leave everyone around unsure of how to respond.
Just remember these three things to react quicker:
1. Check if the person is awake and breathing normally
2. Immediately Call for emergency medical assistance and request an AED if available.
3. Learn hands-only CPR. It should be a MUST for everyone. If the person is unresponsive and not breathing normally, start hands-only CPR to compress right away.
