This is not my first time teaching prāṇāyāma.
And every time I teach it, I see the same patterns — in even the most sincere, dedicated students.
Not because they aren’t trying. But because the structure is not always clear- what to expect, when to start, or what stands in the way.

Swipe through — this one is for every practitioner who has ever felt like they’re doing it right but something still isn’t clicking.

Prāṇāyāma is not a generic prescription. Every practice needs to be approached with real knowledge — the subtler the practice, more is the discretion that is required.
This is exactly why I don’t give casual advice about pranayama.
Our pranayama classes will be ongoing - .
Not a quick fix. Real knowledge, built through direct experience. And because it’s live, you can bring questions like this one into the room.
First 2 sessions free if enrolled by tomorrow

Every breath travels the same path.

Prāṇa doesn’t.

Āsana literally means ‘seat’ — and prāṇa flows differently in each one.

Before you ever sit for prāṇāyāma, these āsanas are where the preparation actually happens.

Take a few moments in each one. If you’re sensitive, you’ll start to feel it.

→ DM me for the video clips of these āsanas.
→ My livestream Prāṇāyāma course starts next week

Before we jump into ‘pranayama’ - the ‘control’ of the prana, let us take step back to reflect on what the word ‘Prana’ actually means - and what is our subjective experience of it.
If this piques your curiosity, look out for more on this

Why so many asanas? Why so much contortion in asanas?
Because there is the possibility of a spectacularly beautiful mental state that makes the effort worthwhile
Is it automatic?
No, body contortions do not necessarily lead to spiritual gains. The intent matters - and so do supplementary practices
Is it essential?
No - the body is only of the tools avialable to us - there are multiple paths

Don’t feel pressured to follow ‘technique’ if just playing around - all movement can be good and all play is good. But if working towards more robust technique to become upright from a back-arch:
The Back is the plinth on which the FRONT rests. The back should propel the swing up - not pushing witj the arms, or pulling through the arms

Why we recommend this for summers:
- opportunity to get down on a cool floor
- face-to-floor = nothing to see. Eyes automatically close, frontal brain restas
- legs spread position - spreads and relaxes the lower organs - urinogenital and digestive

If you are going through the kind of energy-sapping summer that we are going through, change your practice to cool you down rather than heat you up, recharge rather than exhaust. Come back for more ideas and detailed instructions of these asana adaptations
