- Yoga is the physical, mental, and spiritual practices done with a view to attain a state of permanent peace. Yoga is much more than those poses. Derived from the Sanskrit word "yuj" which means "to unite or integrate"; yoga is a 5000 year old Indian body of knowledge. Yoga is all about harmonizing the body with the mind and breath through the means of various breathing techniques, yoga postures (asanas) and meditation. Yoga is the union of the individual psyche with the transcendental self. At Sumeru Yoga we help you connect with your inner self and with the Shiva Tattva present in you. About the Teacher -

Child's pose or balasana is a bend, which stretches and releases the spine and lower back. You can use this pose as a warm-up pose, a resting pose or a counter pose for a back bend. You should experience your spine lengthening when you drop the weight of your hips to your heels and relax your head to the floor. Breathe evenly throughout the pose and imagine your body relaxing with each breath.

From Downward Facing Dog pose, drop the knees to the floor; Then spread the knees as wide as the mat, keeping the big toes touching.
Bring the belly to rest between the thighs and the forehead to the floor. There are two possible arm variations:
Either stretch the arms in front of you with the palms toward the floor or bring the arms back alongside the thighs with the palms facing upwards. Do whichever feel more comfortable to you.

Parvatasana is one of the important seated yoga postures. It has immense benefits and is one among the yoga postures for weight loss.
Parvatasana not only stretches the spine, it also helps the practitioners below 18 years to gain some height as well.

Vajra asana - The name comes from the Sanskrit words vajra meaning "thunderbolt" or "diamond",and asana meaning "posture" or "seat"
Sit on the heels with the calves beneath the thighs. There is a four finger gap between the knee-caps, and the first toe of both the feet touch each other and sit erect.
This asana helps in digestive issues like constipation.
Vajrasana is one of the few exceptions. This asana can be done immediately after the meal. In fact, it is most effective after the meal and aids in proper digestion.
Vajrasana modifies the blood flow in the lower pelvic region. The blood flow to the legs is reduced and the blood flow to the digestive organs is increased. This increases the efficiency of the digestive system and helps those with weak digestion to digest a full meal easily.
It also strengthens the muscles of the legs and back.
It is a good meditative pose for those suffering from sciatica and severe lower back problems.
Slow and rhythmic breathing in this position can induce a meditative state.

and Padmasana or Lotus Pose
From a seated position, one heel is brought to the groin area (perineum), then the opposite ankle placed over the first leg with the toes and heel of the second foot resting in the fold made between the thigh and calf of the first leg beneath it. The spine is held erect. A small meditation cushion or zafu is sometimes used to aid vertical back alignment.

Siddhasana and Padmasana (Lotus Pose) are the two asanas traditionally used for meditation and pranayama (breath) exercises.

Sukhasana - Pleasant Pose is a substitute that is easier on the knees.
