Another interpretation equated the outer shell to the human being’s gross physical body and the kernel to the subtle body.
procedure : The coir should be in top is the must.
It has been noticed that if the Coconut is not tied in proper way. Positive energy will be less and sometimes even negative energies gets spread.

Coconut is homologous to the individual. According to Hinduism an individual consists of 3 bodies (shareera)
1. Sthula Shareera — gross physical body represented by the external husk of the coconut
2. Sukshma Shareera — subtle or astral body consisting of the mind, emotions etc. represented by the white kernel
3. Karana Shareera — causal body consisting of the seeds of subliminal latent impressions (samskara) the cause of rebirth represented by the water inside.

The three eyes on the top represent the 2 physical eyes and the third eye of wisdom (Jnana Chakshu)
