Clean hands. Critical care. Lifesaving impact.

On World Hand Hygiene Day, it’s worth revisiting one of the most fundamental and most effective interventions in healthcare.

In ICUs, where patients are highly vulnerable and care is complex, the risk of healthcare-associated infections is significantly higher, multiple times greater than in general wards, up to 20x in some settings. Globally, 7%–15% of hospitalized patients acquire such infections.

A large proportion of these are preventable. Effective hand hygiene alone can reduce up to 50% of avoidable infections during care delivery.

Yet, adherence remains a challenge. Global data suggest hand hygiene compliance in ICUs is around 60%, with wide variation across settings, highlighting the need for continuous reinforcement, training, and accountability.

At Cloudphysician, this is not a one-time intervention.

Our clinical teams work closely with partner hospitals at the bedside, conducting regular and need-based hand hygiene training, ensuring ICU teams remain aligned with best practices in infection prevention. This continuous focus helps embed hand hygiene into everyday clinical practice, where it matters most. It reflects a steady shift towards more consistent, safety-first behaviours in critical care environments, directly contributing to reduced infection risk and safer patient care outcomes.

On 17th April 2026, Cloudphysician marked its 9th Foundation Day, a milestone that reflects a journey defined by bold choices and meaningful impact.

Over these relentless nine years, we have cared for more than 200,000 patients, partnered with over 280 hospitals, and helped reduce mortality rates by up to 47%. At the heart of this progress are the AI agents we have built with persistence, working alongside clinicians to improve the speed, accuracy, and consistency of care. Behind every metric is something far more important: lives improved, families supported, and healthcare systems strengthened.

We kicked off our two-day celebration with a favourite tradition, “Make Your Own Sundae,” where our leaders served scoops of yummy ice cream to our colleagues across the organisation. It is our beautiful ritual that gets sweeter with every passing year.

Day two brought us together for a company-wide townhall, an opportunity to look back on our progress and align on the bold vision ahead. The evening wrapped up with laughter, shared stories, and a sense of collective pride.
