Understand Your Ultrasound Report
An ultrasound report can tell you much more than simply “gallstones present.”
When reviewing a gallbladder ultrasound, important findings may include:
• Number and size of stones
• Location of the stones
• Gallbladder wall thickness
• Bile duct findings
• Gallbladder distension or inflammation
But an ultrasound report should always be considered along with your symptoms and clinical history. The same ultrasound finding can have different significance in different patients.
If your report mentions gallstones, wall thickening, sludge, or other gallbladder changes, understanding the complete report can help you discuss the appropriate management approach with your doctor.
