A special Thalassemia Screening Camp was organised on Monday, 24 August, at Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital, with the support of the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Research Centre. The camp witnessed the participation of more than a hundred children and their parents, bringing together families with a shared hope for better health, timely diagnosis and a brighter future for their children.
The camp was attended by renowned physician Dr. Shantanu Sen from Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute, Mumbai. Also present was Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Dutta, Director of Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital and a renowned paediatrician, along with doctors and faculty members of the medical college.
The initiative is not limited to screening alone. It is aimed at ensuring that children and families living with the challenges of thalassemia receive timely medical guidance, expert consultation and continued support.
It was also announced that, very soon, specialist doctors from the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Research Centre will conduct dedicated clinics at Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital. These special clinics will provide expert consultation and treatment support for Thalassemia, Haematology, Oncology, Kidney and Heart-related diseases and other complex medical conditions.
For a parent, the health of a child is the greatest hope in life. Behind every test, every consultation and every treatment is a family waiting for reassurance and a child hoping for a healthier tomorrow.
With this initiative, Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital is taking another meaningful step towards bringing specialised healthcare closer to people - turning medical care into hope and hope into the possibility of a better life.
