Advantages of Choosing the Medical / Dental Profession (Especially for Women 😉)
People often ask, “Why did you choose medicine?” Well, here are some “advantages”…
🩺 Your desire to buy fancy clothes vanishes—you can practically live in scrubs.
💍 Jewellery? What’s that? Your hands spend most of the day inside gloves.
💄 Makeup becomes optional. Why waste expensive lipstick behind a mask?
📈 Your value actually increases with age. In medicine, experience is priceless.
🏠 Working 9–10 hours a day, 6 days a week leaves little time to socialize. Eventually, your urge to constantly upgrade your house also disappears!
💭 After spending all day treating pain, suffering, and life-threatening illnesses, your own problems start looking surprisingly small.
🩸 Blood, saliva, urine, vomit, pus, and stool become part of your daily routine. Fancy perfumes lose their charm very quickly!
🎉 You miss so many family functions, weddings, and celebrations that eventually people stop inviting you. Instant cost-cutting—for everyone!
👨👩👧👦 Your children grow up seeing you work all the time. They become experts at being independent… and maybe a little introverted. The easiest solution? Make them doctors too! 😄
💰 And about the “doctors are so rich” story… I’m still searching for those doctors. Even in a family of 15 doctors, we haven’t discovered that mythical treasure everyone keeps talking about!
Yet, every single day I sit in my chair with gratitude.
I am blessed to be among the few who have the privilege of relieving someone’s pain, easing someone’s fear, and sometimes giving them a second chance at life.
Yes, medicine is a noble profession.
Yes, we work with human lives.
Yes, there are black sheep in every profession—but they never define the millions who quietly serve with honesty, compassion, and dedication.
So here’s a salute to every doctor who chose this path. There are countless easier ways to make money, but very few professions that allow you to touch lives the way medicine does.
We may not always be appreciated, but we know why we chose this calling—and that is enough. ❤
