Awareness is the first step toward saving lives.

On September 3, 2026, the village of Mariputhur, Madurantakam, Chengalpattu District, became a space for hope, learning, and action.

Under Project Shakthi, Kalpavriksham Trust, in partnership with Sun Pharma and Privaram Cancer Hospital, conducted an impactful Cancer Awareness Talk, bringing vital health education closer to the community.

More than 60 community members came together to learn about cancer prevention, early detection, and preventive care. The session covered key topics including:

• Cancer Awareness & Early Screening
• iBreastExam & Pap Smear Screening
• Oral Cancer Awareness
• Skin Cancer Awareness

Every story shared and every question answered takes us one step closer to a future where healthcare knowledge reaches every home, regardless of how remote the community may be.

25 people from Mariputhur came forward to take an important step towards protecting their health through early cancer screening.

At the Project Sunkalp cancer screening camp held at Mariputhur, Madurantakam, both women and men from the community participated:

18 clinical breast examinations
25 oral cancer examinations
4 Pap smear screenings

The camp brought together 19 women and 6 men, reinforcing an important message: cancer awareness and early detection are for everyone.

During the screening, one individual was identified with a positive finding for suspected oral cancer and was referred for further medical evaluation. This highlights why screening matters. Cancer and precancerous changes may not always cause obvious symptoms, and early identification can help ensure timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

For many rural communities, accessing specialised healthcare can be challenging due to distance, cost, time, or limited awareness. By bringing screening services directly to the community, Project Sunkalp is helping remove these barriers and make preventive healthcare more accessible.

Every person who comes forward for screening is taking a proactive step towards understanding and protecting their health. These camps also create opportunities to spread awareness among families and encourage communities to make regular screening a part of their preventive healthcare routine.

Through Project Sunkalp, Kalpavriksham Trust continues to work with local communities, healthcare professionals, and CSR partners to expand access to cancer screening across Madurantakam.

What begins with awareness can become a powerful step towards early detection and better health.

As part of Project Sunkalp, C. S. Shanthi conducted an engaging Cancer Awareness Talk at Mariputhur Village, Madurantakam, reaching 60 beneficiaries with essential knowledge about cancer prevention, warning signs, and the importance of timely screening.

The session focused on four important areas of cancer awareness:

• Breast Examination - Understanding the importance of regular breast examination and recognizing unusual changes early.
• Pap Smear - Highlighting the role of Pap Smear in detecting cervical cell changes at an early stage.
• Oral Examination - Creating awareness about persistent mouth ulcers, unusual patches, sores, and other warning signs that should not be ignored.
• Skin Cancer Awareness - Encouraging participants to recognize unusual changes in moles, skin lesions, or other skin abnormalities and seek timely medical attention.

Cancer awareness is not just about knowing the disease, it is about recognizing warning signs, choosing timely screening, and taking proactive steps towards better health.

By bringing cancer awareness directly to the community, Project Sunkalp continues to empower people with knowledge that can encourage early detection and potentially save lives.

Creating Awareness. Encouraging Prevention. Inspiring Early Detection.

Kalpavriksham Trust, in collaboration with Multivista and Privaram Cancer Hospital, conducted a Cancer Awareness Talk at Koshi Innovations Pvt. Ltd., Madurantakam, on 1 September 2026.

With around 60 participants across two sessions, the awareness programme covered cancer symptoms, early detection, screening, healthy lifestyle practices, dietary choices, and the importance of HPV vaccination in preventing certain cancers.

Project ARISE | Cancer Screening Camp

Kalpavriksham Trust and Sailaja Mahesh Foundation, in collaboration with Privaram Cancer Hospital, conducted a cancer screening camp at Rehoboth Public Charitable Trust, Paraniputhur, on 28th August 2026.

As part of the initiative:
• 44 beneficiaries underwent iBreast screening
• 15 beneficiaries underwent Pap smear testing

Through Project ARISE, we continue to take cancer screening closer to underserved communities, encouraging early detection and promoting preventive healthcare.
