TMJ (temporomandibular joint) pain usually shows up as discomfort around the jaw joint—just in front of your ear—and can affect how you open, close, or move your mouth.

Common symptoms:

Jaw pain or tenderness
Clicking / popping sounds while opening or chewing
Difficulty opening mouth fully (or jaw getting “stuck”)
Pain while chewing or talking
Earache or headache (often mistaken for something else)

Common causes:
