Five things about therapy that most people still get wrong.

Your therapist doesn't need a higher IQ than you. No single "type" of therapy wins. Psychologists can't read your mind or catch your lies. Having their own mental health history makes them sharper, not weaker. And years on the job don't guarantee better outcomes.

What actually moves the needle: trust, empathy, feeling understood, shared goals, and a therapist who keeps seeking feedback instead of coasting on experience.

Save this for the next time someone tells you therapy only works one way. 💙

On 7th of August, Myndwell set up a stall in IIT Madras collaborating with the MITR volunteers. We focused on making conversations around mental wellbeing simple, interactive, and approachable.

Students checked in with how they were feeling through our emotion check-in, explored the difference between worries they could and couldn’t control through our Worry Jars, challenged themselves with Coping Skills Bingo, and added something they were grateful for to our Gratitude Tree.

Alongside the activities, we also introduced students to Myndwell’s counselling services at the IITM Institute Hospital and created a space where they could learn more, ask questions, and engage at their own pace.

Sometimes, it’s not the topic—it’s the pattern. ❤️‍🩹

If the same fights keep showing up in different forms, it may be time to pause, understand the pattern, and have one honest conversation.

One small shift can change the way you connect. 🌱
