Another Doctor assaulted at BRIMS Bidar. When Healers Become Victims: The Crisis of Violence in Healthcare. Every day, medical professionals enter hospitals with a singular mission: to save lives. However, increasingly, they are entering environments where they fear for their own safety. The alarming rise in assaults on doctors is not just a tragedy for the medical fraternity; it is a crisis that threatens the health and safety of our entire society. What are the underlying reasons for these incidents? While emotions can understandably run high in medical emergencies, grief or frustration is never an excuse for violence. Overworked staff and systemic gaps in hospital infrastructure often add to the strain, yet taking the law into one's own hands only endangers patient care. The Ripple Effect on Society. When a doctor is assaulted, the impact is devastating: Loss of Focus: Fear of violence forces medical professionals to work under immense stress and pressure. Worsening Care: A hostile environment compels many healthcare workers to hesitate when treating critical or highly complex cases. Brain Drain: Talented young doctors may choose to leave the profession or relocate, leaving society with fewer skilled healers. How Can We Prevent This? Hospitals must be safe spaces for both healing and providing care. As a community, we must: Demand Protection: Call on authorities to implement strict hospital security measures and swift legal action against those who resort to violence. Practice Mutual Respect: Value the sacrifices our frontline workers make every day. Use the Right Channels: If there is a suspected case of medical negligence, patients and their families should seek resolution through the proper legal and judicial channels, not mob justice. A society that does not respect and protect its doctors will eventually lose its ability to heal. Let's pledge to protect our frontline warriors and restore the sacred trust between doctor and patient. 🩺

In a landmark global effort led by Monash University, one of the world’s most common women’s health conditions has been renamed to better reflect its complex, multisystem nature.

The condition, previously known as Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS), will now be called Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), a change experts say corrects decades of misunderstanding that reduced the disorder to just “ovarian cysts.”

The renaming, published in The Lancet, follows 14 years of global collaboration involving clinicians, researchers, patient groups and women living with the condition.

Experts say the new name reflects the condition’s broader impact across the endocrine, metabolic and reproductive systems, and could improve how it is diagnosed, explained and treated.
