Is your baby ready to move beyond purรฉes? ๐ฅฃโก๏ธ๐ฅ
Around 7โ8 months, babies can gradually explore thicker textures, mashed foods and appropriately prepared finger foods. This is an important stage for learning how to chew, pick up food, explore textures and become more independent with eating. ๐ฅโจ
Remember: textures matter as much as nutrition. โค๏ธ
Try offering:
๐ฅ Soft-cooked vegetable sticks
๐ Soft banana pieces
๐ฅ Ripe avocado slices
๐ฅ Soft potato wedges
๐ Steamed sweet potato
๐ฅ Soft homemade mini pancakes/cutlets
๐พ Soft, well-cooked grains and cereals
What parents should remember:
โ๏ธ Food should be soft enough to squish between your fingers
โ๏ธ Progress gradually from smooth purรฉes โ mashed/lumpy โ soft finger foods
โ๏ธ Let your baby explore and self-feed when developmentally ready
โ๏ธ Always supervise your baby while eating
โ๏ธ Avoid hard, round, sticky or choking-risk foods and prepare foods appropriately
โ๏ธ Follow your babyโs hunger and fullness cues โ messy eating is learning! ๐ฅฐ
The goal isnโt a perfect eater. Itโs a confident little eater. โค๏ธ
Save this post for your babyโs next feeding milestone ๐
