🏛️ UCMS Faculty Represents Disability Rights at the Supreme Court of India
We are proud to share that Dr. Nonita Gangwani, Assistant Professor, Department of Physiology, UCMS, was invited to a crucial meeting with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, on August 13th.
Dr. Gangwani joined fellow advocacy leaders Mr. Arman Ali (NCPEDP) and Major DP Singh to voice the concerns of persons with high support needs. Moving away from traditional charity-based models, the discussion focused heavily on systemic legal rights and dignity.
Key issues raised by Dr. Gangwani included:
👉 Care Provider Needs: Addressing the structural and emotional support required for full-time caregivers.
👉 Functional Assessment: Restructuring disability assessments to reflect actual daily living challenges.

UCMS applauds Dr. Gangwani for bringing these vital lived experiences to the highest judicial forum in the country.

A wonderful three days of learning and growth at UCMS, Delhi.

The 4th Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) was successfully conducted from 5th–7th August 2026, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Dheeraj Shah. The workshop brought together 30 dedicated faculty members from UCMS, NDMC Medical College, and partner institutions in Agra, Hapur, Mathura, and Meerut — all committed to strengthening the way medical education is taught, mentored, and assessed.

We were privileged to have Prof. Sushanto Neogi, Department of Surgery, MAMC New Delhi, grace the occasion as NMC Coordinator, lending valuable insight and guidance throughout the sessions. The workshop was thoughtfully coordinated by Prof. Khan Amir Maroof, Coordinator of the Medical Education Unit, whose efforts ensured a smooth and impactful experience for all participants.

Feedback from the attending faculty was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting the workshop's success in equipping educators with practical tools and renewed enthusiasm for teaching.

Congratulations to everyone involved — here's to continuing this journey of excellence in medical education! 🎓

🎬 Frames for Change. Reels for Awareness. | Reel Making Competition 🤱✨

A 30-second reel can do what a 30-page report sometimes can’t. With sound, story, and emotion, it captures attention, shifts mindsets, and puts important causes like breastfeeding in the spotlight. This is the power of visual storytelling.

Inspired by the World Breastfeeding Week 2026 theme—“Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works”—a Reel-Making Contest was organised by the Department of Community Medicine for college students all over India to celebrate breastfeeding and spotlight the systems that support mothers to thrive.

The competition was coordinated by Dr. Bahav and Dr. Munya. Our esteemed judges, Dr. Khan Amir Maroof and Dr. Srishti Yadav, evaluated the entries based on creativity, originality, relevance to the theme, and overall impact.

After careful consideration, we are thrilled to announce the winners!

🏆 Winners: 🥇 1st Prize – Ria Chawla (Solo) 🥈 2nd Prize – Rahul Singh Patel (Solo) 🥉 3rd Prize – Health behind numbers (Team)

👏 Congratulations to all the participants for using their creativity to drive public health awareness and normalize breastfeeding! 🌟
