The World Health Organization's 2026 global patient safety turns the spotlight on Theme “Safe care for noncommunicable diseases” conditions that claim millions of lives each year and demand continuous, long-term care. Yet within this care journey, critical safety risks like missed diagnoses, medication errors, and poor follow-up continue to go unaddressed.
This May, we draw attention to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) the single largest contributor to the global NCD burden.
❤️ The Heart of the Problem Nearly 1 in 3 deaths worldwide is linked to cardiovascular disease, with the heaviest toll falling on low- and middle-income countries. What makes this especially urgent is that the majority of these deaths are preventable, yet millions remain undiagnosed or without adequate care.
⚠️ What's driving this burden?
Poorly managed hypertension and diabetes
To***co use and harmful alcohol consumption
Unhealthy diets and sedentary lifestyles
Delayed screening and low public awareness
Fragmented and inconsistent quality of care
Each of these gaps doesn't just worsen health outcomes it creates real, avoidable harm within our healthcare systems.
🌐 Be Part of the Conversation In observance of World Patient Safety Day 2026, we are proud to host two dedicated webinars on safe NCD care uniting patients, clinicians, and policymakers to exchange insights and co-create safer health systems.
