Can Robotic Surgery Make Weight Loss Surgery Safer? 🤖

12 years of data. 545 patients. Zero mortality reported.

Dr Vivek Bindal shares insights from his team's 12-year experience with robotic bariatric surgery, based on a recently published study involving 545 patients.

The research highlights how the precision and dexterity of robotic technology can support bariatric procedures. Dr Vivek Bindal also discusses SureForm stapling technology and its role in precise stomach division during bariatric surgery.

For the team, this publication is more than a research milestone—it represents another step toward safer, more precise, and effective obesity treatment.

Considering bariatric surgery? A detailed evaluation by an experienced bariatric surgeon is essential to determine the most appropriate treatment approach.

Open vs Laparoscopic vs Robotic Hernia Surgery — what's the difference?

Hernia repair can be performed through different surgical approaches, including open, laparoscopic and robotic-assisted techniques.

The choice of approach depends on factors such as the type and location of the hernia, previous surgeries, overall health and the surgeon’s assessment.

Understanding the options can help you have a more informed discussion about your treatment.

Discuss the approach that may be appropriate for you with your surgeon.

Weight Loss Injections: What You Should Know Before Starting

Weight loss injections such as Ozempic, Mounjaro, and similar medications are becoming increasingly popular—but are they suitable for everyone?

In this video, Dr Vivek Bindal explains the potential risks and limitations of these medications, including pancreatitis, important thyroid-related precautions, pregnancy considerations, muscle loss, possible eye-related concerns, and weight regain after stopping treatment.

The key message: don't start weight loss medication without proper medical guidance.

A safe weight-loss plan should include appropriate medical evaluation, nutrition, protein intake, physical activity, and regular follow-ups.

Weight loss should be medically guided—not self-prescribed.

Celebrating 1000+ Robotic & Bariatric Surgery Cases at Max Healthcare

It was a privilege to celebrate an important milestone — successfully completing 1000+ robotic and bariatric surgery cases at Max Healthcare over the last five years, following the launch of our robotic surgery programme in 2021.

Our programme was the first robotic surgery programme in East Delhi, Ghaziabad and Noida. Its success also contributed to the growing adoption of robotic surgery across the region.

This achievement reflects the collective efforts of our entire team, along with the support of hospital management, Anaesthesia and OT teams, and the clinicians who placed their trust in us.

My sincere thanks to Dr. Dhananjay Pandey, Dr. Vijay Pandey, all our fellows and staff for their dedication and contribution to this milestone.

Grateful for the journey so far and looking forward to continuing to advance minimally invasive and robotic surgical care.

Weight-Loss Injections vs Bariatric Surgery — which approach may be right for you?

Weight management can involve different treatment approaches, and the right choice depends on individual health, obesity-related conditions, treatment goals and medical assessment.

In this 4-slide comparison, we look at two approaches through four important considerations:

• Suitability
• Durability
• Monitoring
• Limitations

Neither approach is a universal solution. Long-term outcomes also depend on appropriate follow-up, nutrition, physical activity and sustainable lifestyle changes.

Can a Hernia Be Treated Without Surgery?

Many people believe that medicines, exercise, physiotherapy, or home remedies can cure a hernia—but that's a common misconception.

In this video, Dr. Vivek Bindal explains why surgery remains the only definitive treatment for a hernia.

A hernia occurs when a weakness develops in the abdominal wall, allowing internal fat or intestine to bulge outward. Since the defect in the abdominal wall cannot repair itself, it requires surgical correction.

Modern Laparoscopic and Robotic Hernia Surgery allows surgeons to reconstruct the abdominal wall using minimally invasive techniques, helping eligible patients recover faster with less postoperative discomfort.

If you have a persistent swelling in the abdomen or groin, pain while coughing, lifting, or standing, don't wait until it becomes complicated. Timely evaluation can help prevent emergency situations.
