বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতি (BADAS) ও OIC-COMSTECH-এর মধ্যে সমঝোতা স্মারক (MoU) স্বাক্ষরিত যার মধ্য দিয়ে ডায়াবেটিস ও অসংক্রামক রোগ প্রতিরোধে আন্তর্জাতিক সহযোগিতার নতুন দিগন্ত উন্মোচিত হয়েছে।

বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতি (BADAS)-এর সেন্টার ফর গ্লোবাল হেলথ রিসার্চ (CGHR) এবং অর্গানাইজেশন অব ইসলামিক কো-অপারেশন (OIC)-এর কমিটি অন সায়েন্টিফিক অ্যান্ড টেকনোলজিক্যাল কো-অপারেশন (COMSTECH)-এর মধ্যে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সমঝোতা স্মারক (Memorandum of Understanding-MoU) স্বাক্ষরিত হয়েছে। এই সমঝোতা ডায়াবেটিস ও অন্যান্য অসংক্রামক রোগ (NCDs) প্রতিরোধ, গবেষণা, সক্ষমতা বৃদ্ধি এবং জনস্বাস্থ্য উন্নয়নে বাংলাদেশ ও OIC সদস্যভুক্ত দেশগুলোর মধ্যে সহযোগিতার নতুন সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করবে।
সমঝোতা স্মারকে স্বাক্ষর করেন COMSTECH-এর- কো-অর্ডিনেটর জেনারেল অধাপক ড. এম ইকবাল চৗধুরী এবং বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতির সভাপতি জাতীয় অধ্যাপক ডা. এ কে আজাদ খান।
এই MoU বাস্তবায়নের মাধ্যমে বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতি ও COMSTECH যৌথভাবে বৈজ্ঞানিক জ্ঞান, প্রযুক্তি ও জনস্বাস্থ্য অভিজ্ঞতা বিনিময়ের মাধ্যমে ডায়াবেটিস প্রতিরোধে কার্যকর মডেল তৈরি করবে, যা OIC সদস্য দেশগুলোর জন্য একটি অনুসরণযোগ্য উদ্যোগ হিসেবে কাজ করতে পারে।
উল্লেখ্য, এই আন্তর্জাতিক সহযোগিতার অংশ হিসেবে আগামী ৬ আগস্ট ২০২৬ তারিখে ঢাকায় "Dissemination of the Faith Based Diabetes Prevention Program in Bangladesh and Dhaka Declaration" শীর্ষক একটি আন্তর্জাতিক অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। অনুষ্ঠানে দেশি-বিদেশি বিশেষজ্ঞ, সরকারি ও আন্তর্জাতিক সংস্থার প্রতিনিধিরা অংশগ্রহণ করবেন। এই আয়োজনের মাধ্যমে ডায়াবেটিস প্রতিরোধে বাংলাদেশে গৃহীত সফল উদ্যোগগুলো আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যায়ে তুলে ধরা হবে।
বাংলাদেশ ডায়াবেটিক সমিতি (BADAS) ও OIC-COMSTECH-এর এই অংশীদারিত্ব বৈশ্বিক জনস্বাস্থ্য চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলায় বিজ্ঞান, গবেষণা ও উদ্ভাবনের মাধ্যমে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাইলফলক হিসেবে বিবেচিত হবে।

National Professor A.K. Azad Khan, President of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS), met today (24 June 2026) with Professor Dr. Pravath Chandra Biswas, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), to discuss preparations for the upcoming International Prevention Summit on Faith-Based Diabetes Prevention, scheduled to be held in Dhaka on 6 August 2026. The summit is being jointly organized by DGHS, BADAS, and several national and international partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), International Diabetes Federation (IDF), World Diabetes Foundation (WDF), OIC-COMSTECH, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
During the meeting, they discussed the summit's objectives, including the proposed Dhaka Declaration on Faith-Based Diabetes Prevention, and emphasized the importance of strengthening community-based and faith-based approaches to diabetes prevention and non-communicable disease control. They also reviewed ongoing collaborative activities between DGHS and BADAS and explored opportunities for future joint initiatives in diabetes prevention, research, capacity building, and health systems strengthening. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing strategic partnerships to improve the health and well-being of the people of Bangladesh.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary, a week-long series of events commenced on 22nd February 2026 across BIRDEM, BIHS General Hospital, NHN, Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital, and other BADAS institutions. An information center titled “BADAS: 70 Years of Achievements” was inaugurated at the BIRDEM hospital compound on the morning of February 22. Similar information booths were also set up at the NHN Mirpur center and the BIHS General Hospital premises in Darussalam, Dhaka. Quiz competitions were also arranged daily in all the information centers.

Special issues of the association's own publications 'Kanti' and health magazine 'Cardiac Barta' were published. Special programs and Talk-show were broadcast through Radio and TV on the occasion of Diabetes Awareness Day.
