Cheap tattoos are expensive in ways people don’t realise until it’s too late.
As someone who works in this industry, I’ve seen people come in trying to “fix” tattoos they got just to save a few thousand rupees. Most of the time, the cover-up, laser, or correction costs way more than getting it done properly the first time.
Here are 10 reasons why you should never choose a tattoo artist only because they’re cheap:
1. Hygiene is not where you compromise.
Your tattoo is basically an open wound. If an artist cuts corners on price, they might also cut corners on sterilisation and safety.
2. Cheap tattoos usually age badly.
A tattoo can look decent fresh and still heal patchy, blurry, or faded within months.
3. Your skin is not practice paper.
Very cheap artists are often still learning basics like linework, depth, and placement control.
4. Cover-ups cost more later.
Fixing a bad tattoo is harder, more expensive, and far more limiting than doing it properly the first time.
5. Low-quality ink shows over time.
Cheap inks can fade strangely, heal unevenly, or irritate the skin.
6. Tattooing is more than tracing a design.
A good artist understands body flow, spacing, longevity, and how tattoos age on skin.
7. The experience matters too.
A good artist guides you honestly, makes you comfortable, and actually cares about the final result.
8. Laser removal is not easy.
Most people trying to save money upfront end up spending much more on painful laser sessions later.
9. You’ll wear this every day.
You’ll forget the price after a while, but you’ll keep seeing the tattoo for years.
10. Good artists charge for experience.
You’re paying for skill, hygiene, precision, and years of practice — not just the tattoo session itself.
