The Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion (IHBT) Blood Centre, Santosh Hospital, successfully organized a week-long Blood Donation Drive from 8th–14th June 2026, reinforcing the importance of voluntary blood donation and its life-saving impact on healthcare.
Conducted in strict adherence to NABH guidelines, the drive ensured donor safety, hygiene and quality standards through comprehensive pre-donation screening, including hemoglobin estimation, blood pressure assessment and medical evaluation by resident medical officers.
As part of the World Blood Donor Day celebrations, the Department of IHBT in collaboration with the Departments of Pathology and Microbiology, organized an awareness programme featuring engaging cultural performances, role plays, poster presentations, interactive discussions, a blood donor pledge ceremony and prize distribution to recognize outstanding participation.
Adding further impact to the campaign, Nursing students partnered with the Blood Centre to present a powerful Nukkad Natak (Street Play) at Santosh Hospital. Through compelling real-life scenarios and audience interaction, the performance highlighted the critical role of timely blood donation and inspired the community to become regular voluntary donors.
Together, these initiatives strengthened awareness, encouraged community participation and promoted the message:
❤️ "Donate Blood, Save Lives – Be a Hero, Be a Donor."
