This Sunday, two teams play a final that lasts 90 minutes. Neither earned its place that day — they earned it over four years of qualifiers, in matches most of the world never watched.

A country's readiness for an outbreak works the same way. The response is what makes the news, but the ability to detect a disease early is built long before any emergency: health workers trained, testing networks in place, partnerships formed while there's still no crisis demanding them.

One cannot qualify during the final, and one cannot build detection capacity mid-outbreak. That's why decentralised molecular testing belongs in the health system before a threat arrives, not after.

PCR has long been a central lab test — until now. Just as the glucometer transformed blood sugar testing, point-of-care molecular diagnostics are transforming how dengue is detected and managed.

In Episode 6 of Decoding Dengue, Dr. Ravikumar Banda, infectious disease expert with 40 years of experience, explains how Truenat Dengue is enabling physicians in remote communities to diagnose dengue early, watch for complications, and trigger public health responses — before an outbreak has the chance to spread.

IgM ELISA and PCR both diagnose dengue. But they detect very different things, and only one of them can confirm that dengue is the active cause of a patient's illness.

In Episode 5 of Decoding Dengue, Dr. Ravikumar Banda, infectious disease expert with 40 years of experience, explains why IgM misses the first five days of dengue fever and why PCR's direct detection of the viral genome makes it the more clinically reliable choice — especially when the risk of complications is highest.

Dengue and chikungunya can look identical in the first few days. But confusing one for the other is not an equally forgiving mistake.

In 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟯 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲, Dr. Ravikumar Banda, infectious disease expert with 40 years of experience and Consultant at Molbio Diagnostics and BigTec, explains why the direction of a misdiagnosis matters, and what is at stake when dengue goes unidentified in a patient who needed it caught early.

In a clinical setting where fever, body aches, and headache point in multiple directions at once, the ability to distinguish dengue from chikungunya, typhoid, malaria, scrub typhus, and leptospirosis with precision is not just a diagnostic preference — it is a clinical necessity.

There is no specific cure for dengue. But something changed the outcome of this disease entirely — bringing mortality down from 20% to less than 1%.

In Episode 2 of Decoding Dengue, Dr. Ravikumar Banda, breaks down the biology behind dengue's most dangerous complications and reveals what made the difference.

As 48 nations battle it out on the pitch at FIFA World Cup 2026, every match is settled in 90 minutes. In diagnosis, the clock matters just as much, and the stakes are far higher.

For infections like tuberculosis and dengue, conventional testing can take days. Days in which the disease moves and evolves, and patients are often lost to follow-up even before treatment begins.

Truenat, Molbio's portable real-time PCR platform, returns an accurate result in about an hour — at the point of care, where the patient already is. No referral. No waiting. A diagnosis in a single visit, even far from the nearest lab.

When diagnosis is faster than the disease, the outcome changes lives.

Final score: Diagnosis 1, Disease 0.
Goalscorer: Truenat
