A pharmacist who is a medicines expert can also be a supply chain expert.

That was one of the strongest messages from Bee Skilled’s Pharmacist Career Clinic, held this week in the backdrop of World Pharmacy Week - a highly interactive conversation with Pharm. Jimmy Aiden, Dr. Andrew Brown and Mr. Sanjay Saha.

The discussion reinforced three important lessons.

Pharmacy knowledge gives professionals a strong foundation, but supply chain competence has to be deliberately built.

Career progression also requires more than technical knowledge. Data, analytics, stakeholder engagement, leadership and change management increasingly matter as responsibilities grow.

And perhaps most importantly: start where you are. Build experience, seek mentors, volunteer in roles that interest you, take targeted courses, and be intentional about the next capability you need for the supply chain role.

As we celebrate World Pharmacists Day tomorrow, the opportunity is not only to recognise what pharmacists already contribute, but also to ask: Where could your pharmacy experience take you next?
