The latest update from the 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 & 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞, 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚, 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝟐𝟓 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, states that the current evidence does not indicate the emergence of a new or unusual H1N1 strain. The circulating viruses are showing changes consistent with the expected seasonal behaviour of influenza.
The public has been advised to remain informed and vigilant, but not alarmed.
Simple precautions remain important:
• Cover your mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing
• Wash your hands regularly
• Stay home and avoid close contact with others when unwell
• Stay hydrated and get adequate rest
• Seek medical advice if symptoms are severe, persistent or worsening
• Do not take antivirals or antibiotics without medical advice.
